The stadium buzzed with anticipation as you stepped onto the pitch at the Emirates Stadium. It had been months since your controversial move from Arsenal to Tottenham, and this was your first time back in enemy territory. The air was thick with tension, and you could feel the hostility radiating from the crowd.
Your heart pounded in your chest as the Arsenal fans erupted into boos. You'd expected it, but the reality was harsher than you'd imagined. Every touch of the ball was met with jeers, and the familiar chants that once uplifted you now felt like daggers.
You took a deep breath, trying to focus on the game, but it was impossible to ignore the taunts. Your gaze shifted to the stands where Alessia sat, her eyes filled with concern. Despite playing for Arsenal, she still supported you, as she always did.
The first half passed in a blur, and by halftime, you were on edge. As you made your way to the tunnel, a particularly loud insult hit its mark. You turned, unable to hold back any longer, and shouted back at the crowd, anger bubbling to the surface.
"What's your problem? Can't handle a little competition?" you snapped, glaring at the section of fans who had been the loudest.
The jeers only grew louder, and you felt a strong arm pull you away. It was Alessia, her expression a mix of worry and determination.
"Y/N, don't. They're not worth it," she said firmly, guiding you towards the tunnel. Her touch was gentle but insistent, her presence calming you despite the chaos around you.
"But they—" you began, but Alessia cut you off.
"Look at me," she said, her voice soft but commanding. You met her gaze, and the intensity of her blue eyes made you pause. "You're better than this. Don't let them get to you."
You took a deep breath, the anger slowly dissipating as you focused on her. Alessia had always been your rock, and in that moment, you felt the strength of your bond.
"Okay," you finally said, your voice steadier. "Okay, you're right."
She smiled, a small, reassuring smile that warms your heart. "Come on, let's get back out there and show them what you're made of."
The second half was no easier, but with Alessia's support, you found your footing. You played with a renewed determination, blocking out the boos and focusing on the game. By the final whistle, you were exhausted but proud. The scoreline might not have been in your favour, but you had given it your all.
As you walked off the pitch, Alessia was there waiting for you. She wrapped her arms around you, pulling you close. "You were amazing," she whispered in your ear.
"Thank you," you replied, hugging her tightly. "I couldn't have done it without you."
She pulled back slightly, cupping your face in her hands. "We're a team, remember? No matter what, we've got each other's backs."
You nodded, feeling a surge of love and gratitude. "Always."
As you left the stadium hand in hand, you knew that no rivalry could ever come between you. Your love was stronger than any boos, any taunts. Together, you were unstoppable.
