The rain pattered softly against the window, creating a soothing rhythm that filled the cosy apartment. You had just finished brewing a pot of tea, the warm aroma of chamomile wafting through the air, when you heard a soft groan from the bedroom.
Concerned, you set the kettle down and made your way to the room where Alessia was lying on the bed, curled up into a tight ball. Her face was scrunched up in discomfort, and it didn't take long for you to realise what was wrong.
"Hey, love," you whispered softly, sitting on the edge of the bed. "Is it the cramps again?"
Alessia nodded, her eyes squeezed shut. "Yeah, they're pretty bad this time."
You gently brushed a strand of hair away from her face, feeling a pang of sympathy. You hated seeing her in pain, especially when there wasn't much you could do to make it go away. But you were determined to do everything in your power to help her feel better.
"I made some tea," you said, your voice gentle. "Would you like a cup?"
She nodded again, a faint smile appearing on her lips. "Yes, please. Thank you."
You quickly returned to the kitchen, pouring a steaming cup of chamomile tea. Returning to the bedroom, you handed it to her carefully. Alessia took a sip, closing her eyes as the warmth spread through her.
You sat beside her, rubbing soothing circles on her back. "Is there anything else I can do to help?"
She opened her eyes and looked at you, her expression softening. "Can you just stay with me? It helps when you're here."
Your heart melted at her words, and you leaned down to place a gentle kiss on her forehead. "Of course, love. I'm not going anywhere."
You lay down beside her, wrapping your arms around her gently. Alessia snuggled into your embrace, her body relaxing slightly against yours. You continued to rub her back, whispering sweet nothings in her ear to distract her from the pain.
As the rain continued to fall outside, the room was filled with a quiet, comforting warmth. You stayed like that for what felt like hours, holding her close and offering her the comfort she needed.
Eventually, the cramps began to subside, and Alessia's breathing grew steady and even. She had fallen asleep in your arms, a peaceful expression on her face.
You smiled softly, pressing a final kiss to her temple. "Sleep well, love," you whispered. "I'll be right here when you wake up."
As you held her close, you couldn't help but feel a deep sense of gratitude. Even in moments like this, when things were tough, the love you shared made everything better. And you knew that as long as you had each other, you could face anything that came your way.
