You hadn't told Alessia you were coming home early. The month abroad for work had been challenging, filled with late nights and early mornings, but finally, you were back. Standing outside your shared house, you took a deep breath, excitement bubbling up as you dialled Alessia's number.
"Hey, babe," you said, trying to keep your voice steady with anticipation. "There's something outside the house that you need to see."
Alessia's curiosity piqued. "Something outside? What do you mean?"
"Just... come to the door," you urged, a smile tugging at your lips.
She hurried to the door. When she swung it open Alessia's eyes widened in joyful disbelief, and then she let out a gasp, her hand flying to cover her mouth. Without a moment's hesitation, she sprinted towards you, closing the distance in an instant. You opened your arms just as she leaped into them, the force of her jump almost knocking you off balance.
"I can't believe you're really here," Alessia whispered, burying her face in the crook of your neck, holding onto you as if she never wanted to let go.
You squeezed her tightly, feeling her heartbeat against yours. "I missed you so much," you murmured, overwhelmed with emotion.
Alessia pulled back slightly, cupping your face in her hands, her eyes searching yours. "I missed you more than words can say," she confessed, her voice cracking with raw emotion.
You leaned in, capturing her lips in a tender kiss, pouring all your love and longing into it. Time seemed to stand still as you melted into each other, finally reunited after what felt like an eternity apart.
As you broke the kiss, Alessia rested her forehead against yours, a contented smile spreading across her face. "Welcome home, my love," she whispered, her breath warm against your skin.
And in that moment, standing on the threshold of your shared home, surrounded by love and warmth, you knew that no distance could ever diminish what you felt for each other. This was where you belonged—wrapped in each other's arms, together at last.
