The soft glow of fairy lights danced across the living room as you and Alessia stood side by side, admiring the fully decorated Christmas tree. It was your first Christmas together as girlfriends, and the warmth of the season seemed to radiate through every ornament and strand of tinsel.
"I think it looks perfect," Alessia said, her voice filled with admiration as she tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. Her eyes sparkled with the reflection of the twinkling lights.
You smiled, feeling a sense of contentment wash over you. "It does. But it's missing one thing." With a mischievous grin, you reached into a nearby box and pulled out a small, handmade ornament.
Alessia's curiosity piqued as you held it out to her. It was a simple decoration, crafted from paper and ribbon, but it held a significance that words couldn't quite capture. "What's this?" she asked, gently taking it from your hand.
"It's our first Christmas together," you explained softly. "I wanted something to remember this moment by."
Her eyes softened, and she looked at the ornament with a tenderness that made your heart flutter. "Thank you," she whispered, pressing a kiss to your cheek before carefully hanging it on a branch near the top of the tree.
As you both stepped back to admire your handiwork once more, Alessia slipped her hand into yours, fingers intertwining with a gentle warmth. "I love you," she said softly, her gaze never leaving yours.
"I love you too," you replied, feeling a surge of happiness that seemed to wrap around you like a cosy blanket. In that moment, surrounded by the soft glow of Christmas lights and the scent of pine, you knew that this holiday season would be the first of many spent together.
And as the days turned into weeks and the season shifted from winter to spring, that handmade ornament remained on the tree, a reminder of the love and joy that had filled your hearts that first Christmas together.
