Chapter 17

It was 9 PM, and Mingyu had returned to the palace with tears in his eyes. An hour later, the King and the police also arrived at the palace. Despite the day's efforts, no one had found any trace of Jungkook. The police reassured the King that they would continue their search throughout the night and then left.

It was 11 PM. Taehyung had almost searched the entire city looking for Jungkook, but he couldn't find him anywhere. He hadn't eaten anything since morning, and his head was spinning from crying all day. It was getting late, and he considered going home, but he knew he wouldn't be able to sleep anyway. He stopped his car on one side of road and started hitting the steering wheel hard, crying his heart out.

"Bun, where are you, Bun? Please come to me, look at what state I'm in. Bun please come to your Tae."

After crying for a while, he started driving towards the palace like a lifeless body. He hadn't gone far when he saw a body outside a random shop from a distance. He thought it was Jungkook, but his vision was blurry due to his spinning head. With a pounding heart, he sped towards the body and turned it over to look.

"BUNNNNNNNNNNN." He shouted.

Seeing Jungkook's condition, he put his hand over his mouth, unable to believe that it was really his bun. His clothes were torn and there were cuts on his body. Taehyung quickly took Kook in his lap and started patting his face.

"Bun please wake up, see you are scaring your hyung. You want your hyung to cry? I know you won't so please wake up now. Look we still have to get engaged, right?" He was talking to the unconscious Jungkook.

A passing man saw them and said, "Son, take him to the hospital, or he might die right here."

Taehyung turned his head and glared at the man with burning eyes, "Be careful, or I might kill you for saying such words for my princess."

Then he carried Jungkook, placed him in his lap in the car, and drove towards the palace.

He got out of the car with Jungkook, took off his coat, and draped it over him. Then, carrying Jungkook in a bridal style, he made his way into the palace, barely able to keep himself steady.

Everyone was waiting in the lounge for Taehyung. As soon as he entered, people rushed towards him. King, Mingyu and Bam started crying at the sight of Jungkook's condition. Even Aena felt pity for Jungkook.

Mingyu hurried to Jungkook and was about to take him from Taehyung when Taehyung pushed him away forcefully.

"No one will touch my princess." He roared.

Mingyu overwhelmed with emotion, retreated to his room in tears.

Seeing Taehyung's state, the queen felt deep regret for her actions. She approached him and gently touched his face, but Taehyung pushed her away as well and without saying a word, carried Jungkook to his room.

The king instructed everyone to return to their rooms and then called the royal doctor.

Taehyung reached his room, laid Jungkook on the bed and went to take a shower. After a while, he came out, took some painkillers for his headache and sat beside Jungkook, tears welling up in his eyes at the sight of his condition.

After much contemplation, he closed his eyes and changed Jungkook's clothes dressing him in something lighter and more comfortable.

A short while later the king entered the room with the royal doctor having obtained Taehyung's permission. The doctor bowed to the prince and approached Jungkook. Jungkook was lying on the bed with Taehyung sitting beside him, holding his hand.

The doctor examined the wounds on Jungkook's face, hands and feet, and asked, "Does he have  injuries on other body parts as well?"

Taehyung nodded. "Yes, he has light cuts all over his body." He had seen the cuts on Jungkook's body through his torn clothes while carrying him inside palace.
