As I did every year, I was organising a massive 4th of July party with loads of my friends at my house in Rhode Island. It was going to be AMAZING! We had rented an inflatable water slide again, as well as recently installing an in-ground trampoline on the lawn and a giant fairground style swing....and of course our ever expanding array of pool floaties.
We had a range of ages coming this year, from tiny babies to people in their 40s, so were trying to cater to everyone's needs.

I had been rushing around all morning making sure all the rooms were ready and the food situation was all organised. With about 30 people here for dinner there was a lot of food.
The first guests to arrive were Karlie and Josh, followed by the King-Newman clan. Jaime and Karlie came into the kitchen to help me make the flag cake, while the men and boys went outside to the pool area. Jaime's boys were now almost 4 and almost 2.

"So, how's the relaxed life been going this summer?" Karlie teased me.

I was getting ready to release my 6th album at the end of August, having taken a little longer than usual, so right now it was all go.

"Surprisingly it's been pretty fun. We went to Scotland in June to visit Adam's family, then spent some time in London while he was doing some recording there, then we've been here for the last week or so.... although Adam had to go to NYC and Las Vegas last weekend for shows and got back yesterday, but he's free this weekend." I explained, thinking back to the amazing trip to the UK that we just got back from.

"Any further wedding plans?" Jaime asked.

We had gotten engaged in February, but hadn't really thought about the future.... or at least not that much.... we were just happy as we were.

"Nothing yet. You'll be close to the first to know, OK?" I said

Within the next couple of hours Selena, Abigail, Ellie, Austin, Brit, Este, Danielle, Alana, Charlie, and Matthew (Burns) arrived with their significant others and some kids.

The party then got into full swing with people having fun on the slide, in the pool, and around the garden. All the snack food I had prepared was going very quickly.

"Hey babe." I heard Adam whisper in my ear as he came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist. Since I was barefoot he had to lean down quite a bit and placed his head on my shoulder.

"Hey you. Are you having fun?" I asked him while watching everyone in front of me from the patio.

"It's great Tay! I'd say even better than last year...... although the year before that was pretty epic!" He said, very enthusiastically.

"Well that was your first experience of a 'Taylor Swift 4th party'....so I'm glad it was memorable."

We then heard a little voice below us.
"Uncle Adam....can you play soccer with me?" Little James asked.

"Of course my little man!" Adam replied, jumping down from the patio to the grassy area James was heading towards.

I wandered down towards the swimming pool while watching Adam interact with James.

"He's good with kids, isn't he?" Jaime said to me as she came to stand next to me watching the same scene play out.

"Yeah...." I said in a slight daze. It always made me melt to see Adam with kids. He was like the BFG.

"Well can you hold this little one while I go get a drink?" Jaime asked

"Of course I can hold my gorgeous godson! Hey baby!" I gushed over him and started carrying him around the pool area making funny faces and tickling his belly.
