JANUARY 2020
TAYLOR POV
"So if you're the princess, who are we?" I asked as I sat on a small stool at a small table in a very purple princess room, wearing a very extravagant dress and crown with two small tea party companions.
"The queen! And the prince, of course!" my little tea party companion replied as she poured water from a small china teapot into tiny little china cups, wearing a purple princess dress and crown. Next to her, in a little bouncer chair sat a baby dressed in a prince onesie.
"Am I a nice queen or a mean queen?" I asked her.
"A super nice queen.... the nicest and the prettiest!" She replied, giggling at me.
"Thank you princess Ali!" I said as I picked up the little cup, holding my pinkie up in the air.
"Well, well, well.... what do we have here?" I heard a deep voice say from behind me.
I spun around on my stool to find Adam standing in the doorway chuckling at the sight in front of him.
"Well I think the king of the castle is here, Ali!" I stage whispered, smiling at the little girl.
"DADDY! You're home!" Ali squealed, running towards Adam.
"Hey Ali-cat! What's going on here?" He asked, swinging her up into his arms.
"We're having a tea party, daddy! Mommy is the queen, and Danny is the prince.... but he's too little to know that....and you have to be the king! I will get you a crown!" She replied to him, wiggling around until he let her down.
Adam came over to the table as Ali went to her overflowing dressing up box.
"Why do I feel like this is déjà vu.... except with more people...." Adam said, sitting on the floor between me and the baby bouncer, since the stools were way too small for his large frame.
"Bringing back memories from the first time we hung out in New York, right? You better get used to dress up tea parties.... there's probably quite a few in your near future, babe!" I replied to him, leaning in for a quick kiss before Ali got back.
"The best memories! And this time it's with our own little ones!" He said smiling at me as Ali placed a crown on tip of his head.
ADAM POV
It was too quiet when I got into the house.... Usually I was greeted by a crazy just 3-year-old running back and forth chasing the cats around, or a screaming 6 month old and an exhausted wife. But today it was silent.
I walked up the stairs and heard quiet voices coming from our daughter's room. Alice and Daniel both had their own rooms, although most nights we would end up with Ali in our bed with us and Daniel still slept in our room since it was closer when he'd wake up.
I waked over gently, trying not to make any noise and stood in the doorway watching my gorgeous wife and adorable daughter having a tea party, dressed in princess dresses, with their backs to me. I had a sudden flashback to when I first visited Taylor in New York and ended up having a tea party with she and Dixie Pearl. The first time we spent time together and the day I realised who I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.
"What do we have here?" I said, making my presence known to my family.
While Ali went to get me a crown I sat down on the plush carpet floor to join the tea party, greeting my wife and little boy.
"Daddy, we really need to get you a proper costume!" Ali told me as she served me 'tea'.
"Well maybe we can go to the Disney store next week ....." I said, knowing I had said the magic word when her face lit up.
"Please? Can we really?" Ali asked me, bouncing slightly on her stool and clapping her hands as I nodded, making Taylor giggle next to me.
"Why not, I'm free and if it's not the weekend it won't be too busy. A little daddy and Ali time." I told her.
"Maybe you can get a new dress too monkey... yours looks like it's getting too small." Taylor told Ali, looking at the dress she was wearing that we had bought last time we were at the Disney store last year. We hadn't ever actually been to Disneyworld or Disneyland yet.
"Can I get a Cinderella dress?" Ali asked, her eyes going wide.
"Anything you want, my little princess!" I replied to her.
MARCH 2020
TAYLOR POV
I had been in meetings all day planning my next tour, which was meant to be starting in June, and was exhausted coming home. I wasn't looking forward to whatever disaster zone I was going to be walking into. Adam had invited his 'mates' Charlie and Matthew over for the afternoon, since they barely ever see each other anymore, and I knew that would probably mean the kids- or at least Alice- would be hopped up on sugar.
So I was well and truly shocked to find the house pretty tidy and very quiet when I got in. I walked around downstairs, checking all the rooms where they might be, but couldn't find anyone. I climbed up the stairs slowly, listening for any noise.
"You have to do it like this.... see!" I heard my incredibly insistent 3-year-old say from her room. I walked over slowly, trying not to make any noise and peeked in through the open door.
I had to try my best to not laugh at the sight in front of me. There sat 3 grown men, all wearing crowns and capes, along with Alice dressed in her newest princess dress and Danny crawling around them all in a little prince costume. Adam saw me, but just smiled, the other two men had their backs to me so they didn't know I was there. I pulled out my phone and took a few picture, blackmail material and all.
"Princess Alice Wiles.... looks who's here!" Adam said to Ali after I had put my phone down again.
Ali's head whipped around and her face lit up as she saw me.
"My queen, finally!" She said, extremely dramatically for a 3-year-old, jumping up and running up to me.
Danny noticed too and sat back on his feet and started clapping. I walked into the room a little more, with Ali wrapped around my legs and picked up Danny.
"Hey Burns...Charlie.... I didn't know you guys liked princess tea parties!" I teased them, making them blush like mad.
"Hey Taylor...." Charlie replied, looking everywhere but my face as I smirked at the two of them.
"Mommy, mommy, mommmmmmy!" Ali said, jumping up and down.
"What, what, what, my darling girl?" I replied, crouching down to her level.
"Unkie Charlie says we can go to the real Disney when we are in Florida for your concert!" Ali said, smiling and clapping her hands together excitedly.
"Really.... and is uncle Charlie the one taking you to Disney?" I replied, looking up at Charlie as I asked, knowing Ali would be crazy at Disney and her uncles could never say no to her.
"I can cope with the little monkey for a day.... but actually maybe we could all go?" Charlie said, realising that it might not be the easiest thing to do.
"Well lucky for all of you, I actually scheduled off 2 days for that exact outing when we are in Tampa.... So I guess it's going to be a Swift-Wiles extended family Disney trip!" I told them all, making Ali squeal and Danny scream from the noise right in his ear.
That sounded more like home. Adam took Danny from me and started soothing him without much success, so I took him back while Ali ran around the room in circles telling us all who she just had to see when we went to Disney. Daniel was a real mommy's boy, while Ali had always been a daddy's girl, and calmed down a lot faster in my arms than Adam's at the moment.
"Are we really going to Disney World?" Adam asked.
"We sure are.... Have all those princess tea parties prepared you for this?" I asked him, as he looked at me and smiled.
"I'm a pro princess tea partier, babe!" He replied, wrapping his arms around me and Danny as Alice danced around with Burns and Charlie.
Our daughter could sell ice cream to penguins if she tried.
