The jacket and the surprise

TAYLOR POV

"I've got some stuff to sort out before my set, but go and have fun with our friends." Adam said, giving me a brief kiss distractedly as we got to the edge of the backstage area.

This wasn't odd, he liked to have some time to himself before a show especially the bigger ones like this, just to get his head in the right place and thoughts in line. I'd learnt over the last year when to leave him to himself, which was right now.

"Okay. I'll see you after. You're going to blow them away, babe!" I said, wrapping my arms around his broad chest tightly before letting go as our friends called me over towards them.

"Don't forget your jacket!" He said, handing me my special 'only-2-in-the-whole-world' jacket.

It was way too warm for it at this moment, but there was no way I was letting it out of my sights. Nobody apart from the two of us and a few close friends knew that it was actually the artwork for his new single 'This Is What You Came For' which is going to be released in a couple of weeks. It was out little secret, and I LOVED that. Of course, I hadn't actually heard the full song yet – just little bits here and there when I visited Adam in his studio during the day.

"Come on guys! Let's get this party going!" I called our, making all my friends cheer as we made our way to watch Flume's set.

ADAM POV

"Hey! Thanks for coming over." I said, getting up to give Rihanna a hug as she came into my trailer.

I knew she was going to be here this weekend and I had just finished the final tweaks on our new song together, so wanted to play it for her. She was going to be nowhere nearby for a while, and the plan was to release the song soon, so I decided to take this golden opportunity and get her final agreement on it. She hadn't heard it since it had been in the rough stages a few months previously.

"No problem!" She said, sitting across from me.

It was just the two of us in the trailer as I plugged my laptop into the speaker system.

"Ready?" I asked her. She nodded in reply and I pressed play, just watching her face the entire time.

She was nodding and moving her hands around to the melody, but not showing anything on her face. It was terrifying, but I had my fingers crossed- I really wanted this to work out!

As the song came to a close, I was ready for any feedback -positive or negative- almost bracing myself for the worst.

"That was awesome, man!" She said, her whole face lighting up as she smiled and nodded at me.

"Seriously?" I asked, still trying to gage her response.

"Yeah! I can't wait to get it out there!" Rihanna said.

"Phew!" I said, chuckling lightly as I unplugged and locked my laptop again, "Now I just have to get ready for my set. You staying around for it?"

"Wouldn't miss it." She replied, getting up to go.

"If only I had planned it sooner, you could've come out as a special guest on We Found Love!" I said jokingly.

"I'm up for it." She said, shrugging.

"Seriously?" I said, my eyes going wide. Taylor would freak! "This is going to be awesome!"

TAYLOR POV

We were having an AMAZING time. I had all my friends around me and my boyfriend was killing it on stage. When Big Sean came out, everyone started screaming. I laughed slightly, since I had been let in on the secret, but sworn to secrecy. We were taking a bunch of photos and videos, and generally messing around without a care in the world. I felt more free than I had in ages – to think that even a couple of months ago I never thought I would ever go to Coachella, and now here I was!

When 'We Found Love' started playing I felt the atmosphere change...and the sound changed too.... Almost like it was being sung live.... I looked around and sure enough, there on a secondary stage, was the one and only Rihanna belting out the words while Adam did his thing up on stage. The crowd's energy levels rose 10 fold around us. We all started freaking out and a few of my friends -and Adam's friends- laughed at me thinking I was faking it, but they could immediately tell that it had been a surprise even to me. I watched her for a few seconds, since we were lucky to have a great view of both stage, but quickly turned around to watch Adam again, I only wanted to watch him. I was way too excited about the whole thing, taking videos of us all singing, hugging everyone within reach.... I didn't get this overwhelmed that often, but this was almost too much. Adam knew how much I love their song, and he knew I would get excited by this, sneaky amazing wonderful man.

As the set was finishing, and John was up on stage singing Blame, we all made our way backstage again, dancing the whole way there. I was on such a high.

ADAM POV

I was in such a great mood after my set, still on a high from the amazing response from the crowd, as I made my way to where I knew my friends would be. Immediately I got handed a bottle of water by Burns as he walked up next to me.

"That was genius, mate.... How did you pull that off?" He asked me.

"I mentioned it, she was up for it.... Did everyone freak out?" I asked him, grinning.

"Lucky! Yeah.... Most of all your girlfriend.... Although she was watching you most of the time." He said, laughing slightly.

Of course she was.... Even when she was performing on stage, with everyone watching her, she would find me in the crowd.

I felt two hands cover my eyes from behind and a small body press up against my back.

"Now this.... this is what I came for." Taylor whispered in my ear, making me smirk as I turned around and smiled at her.

"You liked the surprise?" I asked her, titling my head to the side and smiling broadly as she giggled and nodded, as I leaned down and kissed her gently, her arms wrapping around my neck as she deepened the kiss.

"Get a room!" Emil called from nearby laughing, making everyone else laugh as well as we pulled apart and both roll our eyes.
