"Come on! We have to get it inside before it starts to rain!" Taylor called to Adam from the front door of their house as he stood in the driveway assessing the situation at hand.
It was the beginning of December and Taylor had insisted they went to buy their Christmas tree today; which Adam was fine with considering he knew how excited Taylor got about Christmas. What he wasn't totally on board with was the fact the tree was 13ft tall and he didn't have any help getting it out of the driveway where it had just been delivered.
"I might need to call for some help Tay.... I definitely cannot manage this alone... and you're not much help." He said, scratching his head.
"Well thanks for that." Taylor replied sarcastically, crossing her arms over her chest.
"I didn't mean you aren't helpful babe.... I just meant that right now I don't want you lifting heavy objects." Adam said quickly, realising he had just dug himself a huge hole.
Adam looked at Taylor with apologetic eyes and she couldn't help but smile. She knew he wasn't being offensive, just protective of her and their little soon to be family. At 6 months pregnant with their second child she was used to his protective nature, and found it endearing sometimes.
"Yeah, me and Ali aren't much help.... Just call Charlie and the boys.... I'm sure Austin will come over and help too, they are all coming over on Christmas day for dinner anyways so they may as well help a little." Taylor told him as he came towards the house again, "Just hurry up, it looks like it's going to chuck it down any time now."
Adam wrapped his arms around her and kissed her forehead.
"I'll cover it with tarpaulins until they get here and then we will move it." He said, grabbing the garage door opening from next to the front door and going to get tarps out.
Taylor closed the front door slightly and went to find her crazy 3-year-old daughter who had just figured out the best way to climb up onto the kitchen counters, using the cupboard door handles and shelves to get herself up and to the cookie tins.
"Ali.... What are you doing on the counter, little missy?" Taylor asked Ali as she entered the kitchen to find the 3-year-old on the counter with a cookie in her mouth and another one in her hand.
"I got baby a cookie." Ali said, smiling sweetly and holding out a Christmas tree shaped cookie to Taylor, who smiled and tried not to laugh at the innocent look Ali was giving her.
"Well that's very nice of you darling, but you need to ask next time and not spider-monkey up the cupboards... okay?" Taylor asked her, picking her up and placing her on the floor.
"Roger that Mommy!" Ali said, rushing off to her playroom.
"She really needs to spend less time with her uncles..." Taylor said, shaking her head slightly and eating the cookie Ali had given her.
Taylor then went to the fridge and got out some food to make lunch, anticipating a whole hoard of men descending on the house for (probably) a few hours at least.
"The guys will be here by 2.30 to move the tree." Adam said, wandering into the kitchen looking at his phone.
"Perfect! That gives you 30 minutes to get the decorations out of the attic!" Taylor said unable to contain her excitement and smiling at Adam who just rolled his eyes and gave her a quick kiss before heading upstairs.
"Is Ali downstairs? I don't want her following me up the ladder." Adam asked from the staircase.
"Umm... she's in the playroom. I'll keep her distracted." Taylor said, gesturing for him to go upstairs as she headed to Ali's little playroom off the living room. "Hey Ali-cat. What are you playing?"
