TAYLOR POV
I walked into the house after a long day of meetings. A few years ago I had decided to stop singing and touring, instead just writing and producing music for other people. I never started my own label or anything, but worked a lot with labels which my friends owned, like Ed's or even Adam's sometimes.
We were now a family of 4, with Tilly having just turned 13 and our little guy, Robert or Bobby, being 7. To say that our house was chaotic would be an understatement most of the time. Tilly had, from a very young age, embraced swimming. She started out when she was really little as a way of getting exercise and building up her muscles and her love of the water grew from then on. She was now swimming competitively, with competitions every weekend either within the state or some in other states. She was part of an inclusive team that included para-athletic swimmers and able bodied swimmers, which pushed her harder, motivating her even further to be her best. Bobby was also very active from a young age, getting into gymnastics and cross country running. On top of that they both played instruments (Tilly had chosen the violin and Bobby the saxophone as well as both playing a little piano) and had school work to do. I therefore never expected the house to be as quiet as it was when I walked in this afternoon.... but it was.
"Hello?" I called out, walking thought the empty downstairs of the house.
There was no response. It was well after school finished and neither of the kids had any training or activities today, so I had been expecting them to be doing their homework in the kitchen or watching (and fighting over) the TV in the living room. Adam usually made sure he was finished work, or at least working outside of his studio, on days when I wasn't home until late, but he was nowhere to be found either.
I looked around a little, wondering where everyone was, until I saw our newest little grey furball slink through the slightly opened door leading to the basement. In the basement we had a very well equipped home gym and a movie room.
"Are they downstairs Mr Tumnus?" I asked the little cat, picking him up. Mr Tumnus was Tilly's cat, and Curious George was Bobby's. The cat wriggled and slipped back through the door, as if leading me downstairs, with me following behind.
When I was about halfway downstairs I heard the sounds of voices and laughter coming from the gym, turning the corner at the bottom of the stairs and opening the door.
ADAM POV
"Dad? Can you help me downstairs?" Tilly asked me, standing in the doorway of the kitchen in her sports leggings and t-shirt.
I had collected the two of them from school about an hour earlier and they were both finished their homework. Tilly said she had to do some strengthening exercises so was going to go downstairs to the home gym for a little until Taylor got home, and Bobby went wherever his sister went most of the time.
"Yeah, sure love. What do you need?" I asked her, getting up from my stool at the island.
"I need try and increase the height of my single leg box jumps, to get more power for dives and turns, but it's hard to change the ones we have.... And then can you stay downstairs...just in case, you know...." She said, bending down and flipping her hair back to put it in a ponytail.
"Sure. Let's go." I said, smiling at her as I gathered my laptop and headphones to take downstairs. There was a rule that the kids couldn't use the gym without one of us around, especially when the plyometric boxes were out or the practice pommel horse we had recently gotten.
When we got downstairs I put on some of the music I had been working on, partly to hear it played out loud and also because the kids loved hearing new stuff first, and then set up the equipment for the kids.
"I bet daddy can't do more jumps than you Tilly!" Bobby said, from the corner as he stretched.
"I think he probably can Bobby... for starters he has two legs instead of one and he is way taller and stronger." Tilly said, laughing slightly at her brother's idea.
"But if you make daddy's box higher...." He suggested.
I looked over at Tilly and saw her grin slightly. She was definitely our daughter in terms of her lightly competitive nature.
"Wanna have a little competition Dad?" She asked mischievously.
"Game on!" I said, trying to give her my best game face and failing miserably. Luckily I was wearing loose sports shorts and a t-shirt.
"I'll count!" Bobby offered, getting down from his position in a headstand and coming over to stand in front of the boxes we were setting up.
As soon as I had got them set up, and Tilly had checked them over for me, she removed her prosthetic and stood up, getting her balance quickly and hopping over to the box.
"Ready...Set....Jump!" Bobby called out. I gave Tilly one final look and we started jumping up and down.
We couldn't help but laugh as we were doing it, which meant that quickly we were both sitting on the floor instead of jumping.
That's how Taylor found us when she got back.
TAYLOR POV
I walked into the gym and found Adam and Tilly in fits of laughter, both lying on the floor behind two boxes set up for box jumps, while Bobby sat laughing on the other side.
"What's going on here?" I asked, amused by the whole situation.
"Dad and I were having a box jump competition.....and it was just too hilarious!" Tilly told me.
"Who won?" I asked, sitting on the higher of the two boxes.
"Nobody! They both just stopped and started laughing too hard to continue!" Bobby told me.
"Maybe your dad and I should have a competition.... Do you guys think I could beat him?" I asked the kids.
"Probably...." They both said with completely straight faces, before bursting into laughter.
"Challenge accepted! I'll just get changed." I said, winking at Adam as I made my way out of the gym to get changed upstairs. I knew exactly what to wear to make sure I won. There were some gym leggings that Adam loved me in, but I barely ever wore...but today was a special day, I HAD to beat him....
ADAM POV
As soon as Taylor came back downstairs I knew I was a goner. The outfit she was wearing was the same outfit she used to wear when we would work out together before the kids were born. I didn't even know she still had the leggings or the top... but I knew I needed to not look at her. I gulped slightly and ignored her as she tried her best to distract me.
"You're going down babe...." She whispered in my ear as she passed me.
"Who's going to count?" I asked the kids, who looked at each other and decided Tilly would count for Taylor and Bobby would count for me.
"Ready...Steady....GO!" Tilly called out.
It only took about 5 jumps before I got distracted. My eyes only flicked over to Taylor for a second, and my foot slipped off the edge and I stumbled.
"DAD'S OUT!" Bobby called out.
"MOM WINS!" Tilly said, cheering slightly as Taylor took a bow and then hugged the two kids.
"Okay guys, upstairs, get changed, and then we'll get started on dinner." Taylor says shoeing them out and turning towards me.
"You are the death of me Mrs Wiles...." I told her, wrapping my arms around her shoulders and leaning down for a kiss.
"I know." She said sassily, before giggling and slipping out of my arms and up the stairs, "Dinner time!"
