TAYLOR POV

I was waiting to go on-stage, lounging in my dressing room, talking to Adam on the phone.

"It's just so sparkly!" I exclaimed

"Hahaha! Babe, I know! I've been looking at it every so often for months." He replied

Right now I was getting ready to perform in New York, while Adam was in LA for a meeting. We had just spent the best week ever in Rhode Island, just the two of us. We went onto the cold and empty beach, and baked, and spent endless hours just relaxing in each other's presence. I had been taking a break for the last few months so we had been spending a lot of time together, but this was 4 days of uninterrupted us time. No meetings, no studio sessions, nobody else.

It was so romantic! So Adam decided that, while we were sitting on the back patio looking at the stars one night, he would propose.

We'd been together for just over a year, and somehow it felt right. We had discussed the future a lot, but mostly hypothetically. Now it was becoming a reality. Of course I said yes!

Adam told me he had bought the ring in September, and it was now March. As he is such a gentleman, he had also asked my dad's permission back in August when my parents were in LA, and somehow my chatterbox father hadn't let slip to anyone, including my mom.

Adam was planning to come to New York tomorrow and we were going to take my parents out for lunch to tell them the big news.

Right now I was lying on the little sofa, in my shimmery costume, holding my left hand up in the air looking at the new piece of jewellery.

"Well I do like sparkly stuff..." I mussed to Adam.

"That's why I knew it was perfect for you, babe." He replied, laughing slightly

"I can't believe it...." I said, having said the same thing a million and one times over the last 2 days since he proposed. This made Adam laugh on the other end of the line.

"Darling.... OH MY GOODNESS!" I heard my mum behind me.

I spun around and looked at her, wondering what was going on, still holding the phone to my ear.

"Are you okay mom?" I asked, looking at her grinning at me.

"What is that on your hand?" She asked, giddily.

I looked down and realised that she had just seen my ring, which I had been so careful to hide or remove earlier in the day. I had only put it on because I thought I was alone and felt naked without it.

"Oh.... ummm...one second." I said to mom, "Adam...I...um...gotta go. Love you!" I said quickly into the phone, hanging up before I heard a response.

"Is that an engagement ring? Are you engaged?" Mom asked, bouncing slightly and looking very excited and also on the verge of tears.

"Well.... we were going to tell you guys tomorrow at lunch.... But yes! Adam asked my 2 days ago!" I said, grinning at her as she launched herself towards me with her arms open wide.

"Oh my goodness! This is amazing!! Let me see it!" Mom squealed, grabbing my hand and looking at the ring.

"I heard a commotion, what's going on?" Dad said, coming into my dressing room.

"Scott, Taylor and Adam are engaged!" Mom squealed again, quite loudly, making me realise everyone had probably heard by now.

"Finally! I've been keeping that secret for months! It was eating away at me!" Dad said, looking relieved.

"YOU KNEW?!" Mom said, looking aghast.

"Mom, it's fine. Adam asked him to keep it a secret and he did.... the important thing is that now everyone knows!" I told her, making her smile at me again.

"I'm proud of you darling!" My dad said, "So when's our soon-to-be son in law getting here?"

"He'll be here by tomorrow morning.... Speaking of which, I should probably call him back. I hung up on him quite abruptly." I said.

"Oh, put him on Facetime! I want to say hello!" Mom said, clapping her hands slightly.

I set up my iPad on the small coffee table and went into facetime, setting it to call Adam. While it connected I just sat back and stared at my hand a little more. It was just so sparkly!
