I think the cocktails must have been flowing a lot, at least for me, as the next morning I woke up on my bed with Adam's arms around me and my back pressed up against his bare chest. I squeezed my eyes shut hoping I was still in my dream, but when I opened them again I was still here. I looked down and saw, thankfully, that I was still in my leggings and tank top, although Adam was only in his underwear. I let out the breath I had been holding and tried to wiggle out of his arms. Unfortunately, that woke him up.

"G'd mornin'" Adam said, yawning and stretching his arms out, letting me sit up.

"Hi...." I said as he squinted at me slightly, "Um... how did we end up here?"

"Not a clue...." Adam said, looking around, "It looks like a bedroom though." He said with a smirk, making me roll my eyes.

"Hardee har. Yes, but how did we end up in my bedroom when the last thing I remember is watching TV on the sofa." I said, thinking hard.

"Yes, and then you started falling asleep so I helped you get to your bed, and you wouldn't let go of me after I lifted you on the bed, and you asked me to stay.... And I was pretty drunk myself so I did.... And that's the last I remember." Adam explained, shrugging.

"But, like, nothing happened between us right?" I asked, concerned about my own behaviour more than anything.

"No." He said, shaking his head, "Although had you not been so drunk something might have, you sure tried and it was hard to resist.... Hence the no shirt thing." He chuckled as I blushed and turned away from him.

"I'm going to have a shower." I said, getting away from him as fast as possible.

"I'll order some breakfast. A sleepover always includes breakfast." I heard Adam say through the door as I stared at myself in the mirror.

What was happening?

I came out of the bathroom 20 minutes later, freshly showered and thinking a lot more clearly, and walked into the living room. There I found Adam eating a bowl of fruit salad as he watched the news. He didn't even turn around when I came in.

"There is a veggie omelette and some juice over there, or fruit and muesli over here if you want anything." Adam said distractedly, focused on the TV and his food and giving me the time to figure out how to broach a delicate subject.

"Thanks." I said, getting some of the omelette and some juice before joining him on the sofa.

We both watched the news report and ate in silence for a few minutes, before I got the guts to talk.

"Hey Adam...." I said, waiting for him to turn his head towards me.

"Yeah?" He asid, smiling at me and making my brain fog up again which I was trying to avoid.

"Can we talk for a minute?" I asked. He nodded and switched off the TV, obviously sensing this was important to me.

"Sure, what's up Tay?" He asked, seemingly concerned.

"Okay, here goes nothing.... I want to get back to how we were. Not just be friends. Be 'Adam and Taylor', be that couple that everyone looks up to, be the couple everyone sees a future for." I said, wringing my hands in my lap slightly to maintain my composure.

Adam looked at me in surprise slightly but didn't say anything, so I continued.

"Last night I was terrified of being at the BRITS, of seeing you, and the memories that I associate with it.... But then I saw you and it was as if a missing puzzle piece fell into place. All the nerves disappeared, all the memories went from tinged with sadness to bright and shiny again. I don't want to lose that feeling again. I tried to tell myself it wasn't worth it, that's why I left the party. But then you followed me and we spend the night laughing like old times. You know that the true me comes out when I'm drunk, the uninhibited version of me. You followed me, you stayed, you slept next to me. To me that seems like you might possibly be having similar thoughts." I took a breath, "Please just say something."

Adam just sat there, as still as a statue, looking at me, not moving or saying anything. I looked down, feeling embarrassed for pouring my thought out to him, feeling stupid for thinking that maybe he thought the same.

Suddenly I felt a hand lift my chin and I looked up to find Adam with tears brimming in his eyes and a smile on his face. He leaned towards me and kissed me gently, as if I was made of porcelain. My arms immediately went around his neck, pulling him closer. I could feel both of us smiling as we continued kissing and laughing slightly. When we finally both pulled back, we both had huge grins on our face.

"So, what should 'Adam and Taylor' do for the rest of the day?" He asked, pulling me onto his lap and running his hand through my hair.

"Well I can think of a few things.... But I am actually meant to be leaving town this afternoon." I told him.

His whole face dropped as I said this.

"But you could come with me.... I have a lovely private jet with a very understanding crew and I am only heading to Nashville for a few days before going back to LA." I told him, twisting his short hair between my fingers as he smiled.

"Let's go babe! Nashville, here we come!" Adam said, standing up and holding his hand out for me as I giggled. He pulled he towards himself and wrapped me out in his arms as I shivered slightly, looking out the window over the city.

Two years ago, 'Adam and Taylor' were just starting to be something.... And now 'Adam and Taylor' were back, and it felt so good.
