Since there was no response, she looked at him. Meanwhile he was looking at her lips. He was inching closer, and her head was slightly moving backwards.
When he finally captured her lips, she quickly moved her face away and turned sideways.
His heart sank.

He turned to her with concern and made her face him again.
"Kya hua Anu. Why did you move like that" he asked. Her eyes softened at his question .
How was she supposed to explain him that she was doing it for her own sanity and not to ignore him. She held his face and gave a long kiss on his cheeks and hugged him tightly. He hugged her back and buried his face on her shoulders.
"Why do you love me so much" she asked holding on to him.
"What?" He huffed. She removed herself from the hug and looked at him.
"Don't love me like this. It becomes very difficult for me to stay away from you. And if you wanna love me, stay with me , otherwise let me behave this way" she said with a welled up eyes.
He held her hands to make her sit on the bed. He knelt down in front of her and placed his palms on her lap.
"Anu, don't give me so much importance that I become a reason for your pain." He made her understand.
"I never wanted to. I never wanted to give anyone so much importance or priority in my life that I won't be able to live without them. Sorry to say, but I wanted to keep a small distance from you as well. But it was an utter failure. You have fought your way up on my priority list to be number one. Just like you are doing in all the batting records." She huffed with a smile. He kissed her fingertips.
"I'll call you everyday, okay. And I'm sorry that I'm the reason for your pain, but I can't stop loving you. Mein Aisa hi hun, just take it as a small price to pay for all this love" he winked at her and pecked her forehead.
She smiled and hugged him again. He kissed her goodbye and wiped her tears.
"No more Rona dhona" he warned her.
"Same to you" she said. But little did she know about the storm to come.

It was a full tour of 3 odis, 3 tests and 5 t20is against South Africa. Since Virat was the captain accross formats, it was going to be a tiring season. He was coming on the back of an extremely successful run in the past 3-4 years.
He was literally at the peak of his powers. No one came close to him when it came to dominating in all formats. He was scoring 50s and 100s for fun. He won a number of accolades from ICC , which includes 'cricketer of the decade'.
The scores in the 3 ODIs read - 53, 21,7
It wasn't very convincing series compared to his standards. The team won the series though. Therefore this was ignored.
Anushka used to call him everyday and now she no more felt that gap. Thanks to Ved. She had got so attached to him that every time Virat calls her, she only had to talk about Ved. And he was super happy about this.
Ved had learned new words and started to slowly hold and walk. Virat watches his baby walk through video call everyday. How he wished he was there to witness it.
