The soft glow of the restaurant lights seemed to intensify the gravity of the moment as Virat leaned forward, his fingers intertwined on the table. His expression was calm yet resolute, a blend of warmth and professionalism.

“Nisha,” he began, his voice steady, “it’s not because I regret the decisions I made, but I do believe in second chances. You’ve made mistakes, but I’ve seen the drive and the ambition you once had. You were successful for a reason, and I remember how fondly you used to talk about building that house of yours. For the sake of those unfulfilled dreams, I want to offer you something.”

Nisha sat frozen, her breath caught in her chest. She couldn’t anticipate what was coming, but there was something about his tone that made her heart pound.

“I want to appoint you back as my co-manager,” Virat declared firmly. “If you’re willing to join, that is.”

Nisha’s mouth parted slightly, her words trapped. She blinked rapidly, trying to process what he had just said.

“Me?” she finally managed to whisper. “But… what about Bunty?”

“Bunty’s doing a great job, but he’s managing things from India. I need someone on the ground here, full-time. And I’d like you to collaborate with him. If you agree, I’ll talk to him and make it work,” Virat explained.

Nisha’s fingers trembled slightly as she gripped the edge of the table. “But... he won’t be comfortable working with me,” she murmured, her voice laced with doubt.

Virat gave a small shrug. “That’s for me to handle. I’ll talk to him.”

The sincerity in his voice left Nisha overwhelmed. Her eyes turned glassy as she stared at him, her emotions threatening to spill over.

“Virat…” she began, her voice cracking. “Thank you. You have no idea how much this means to me. This isn’t just a job for me—it’s my life. I’ve felt so out of place all these years, working at the school. This… this is where I belong.” She wiped a tear as it rolled down her cheek, a bittersweet smile on her face.

Virat gave her a tight-lipped smile. “Don’t thank me. Honestly, I feel like I owe you one for everything you did during Ved’s early years. You stood by me when I didn’t know how to manage things, and I haven’t forgotten that.”

Nisha nodded, her heart swelling with gratitude. After a moment of silence, she hesitated before asking, “How’s… Ved?”

Virat’s face softened, his demeanor shifting at the mention of his son. “He’s good. He’s growing fast, and he’s full of energy. Keeps us on our toes with his endless questions,” he said with a fond smile. Then, his expression brightened as he added, “Oh, and one more thing—we’re expecting another child.”

Nisha’s eyes lit up, her face breaking into a wide smile. “Wow, Virat! That’s amazing news. Congratulations! I’m so happy for you and Anushka. This feels like a full-circle moment. I remember those days when you were preparing for Ved’s arrival. But you’re in such a better place now. It’s wonderful.”

Virat chuckled softly. “Yeah, we’ve come a long way, haven’t we?”

“Absolutely,” Nisha agreed, still beaming. “So, when are you expecting?”

“In two months,” Virat replied, his voice tinged with excitement.

“That’s fantastic,” she said warmly. “I can’t wait to hear all about it. And… Virat, by any chance… can I meet Ved? And… Anushka?” she asked hesitantly, her voice barely above a whisper.
