Angsty
---

Y/N Potter stood in the shadows of the dimly lit corridor her heart pounding in her chest. The letter she had received earlier that day from an anonymous source burned in her pocket. It claimed that Regulus, her beloved Regulus, had taken the Dark Mark and sworn allegiance to Voldemort. She had to see him, had to hear it from his own lips before she could believe such a horrendous truth.

As the clock struck midnight, she saw him approaching, his face partially hidden beneath the hood of his cloak. She stepped forward, her breath hitching at the sight of him.

"Regulus," she called out, her voice trembling.

He looked up, and for a moment, his expression softened at the sight of her. But then his face hardened, and he cast a furtive glance over his shoulder. "Y/N, you shouldn't be here."

"I had to see you," she said, taking a step closer. "Is it true? Are you really... one of them?"

Regulus' jaw clenched, and he pulled back his sleeve to reveal the dark, swirling tattoo on his forearm. "Yes, it's true."

A gasp escaped her lips, and she reached out to touch the mark, but he pulled his arm away. "Why, Regulus? Why would you do this?"

"It's for my family," he replied, his voice cold and detached. "This is the only way to protect them."

Tears welled up in Y/N's eyes. "But what about us? What about everything we've dreamed of, planned for? We can still have it, Regulus. We can run away, leave all of this behind. Please, come with me."

He shook his head, a bitter smile playing on his lips. "You don't understand, Y/N. There's no running away from this. They would find us, and they would kill us. I have to stay, to protect you, to protect my family."

"But you're not protecting us, you're endangering us!" she cried, her voice breaking. "You don't have to do this. We can find another way."

Regulus reached out and cupped her face in his hands, his eyes filled with sorrow. "I love you, Y/N. More than anything in this world. But I can't leave. This is the path I've chosen."

Tears streamed down her cheeks as she clung to him. "Then I can't stay," she whispered. "I can't watch you destroy yourself."

He kissed her forehead, his own tears mingling with hers. "I understand. But promise me you'll stay safe. Promise me you'll live."

She nodded, her heart breaking as she pulled away from him. "Goodbye, Regulus."

"Goodbye, my love," he whispered, watching her disappear into the darkness, knowing it might be the last time he ever saw her.

As Y/N walked away, her heart heavy with grief, she vowed to herself that she would find a way to save him, no matter the cost. But for now, she had to leave him to his choices, hoping against hope that one day he would see the light and come back to her.
