In a quiet corner of Gryffindor common room, Y/N sat with a heavy heart, longing for the warmth and comfort of Lily Evans, her girlfriend. It had been a particularly trying day, filled with setbacks and frustrations, and all Y/N wanted was a moment of solace in Lily's arms.

Lily, however, was deeply engrossed in her studies, her brow furrowed in concentration as she flipped through a thick Transfiguration textbook. The tension in the room was palpable, the soft crackling of the fire contrasting sharply with Y/N's growing sense of loneliness.

After a while, unable to contain her yearning for Lily's presence any longer, Y/N approached her quietly, hoping to garner a moment of affection.

"Lily," she began tentatively, "could we... maybe cuddle for a bit? I've had a really tough day."

Lily sighed, frustration evident in her voice as she glanced up briefly from her book. "Y/N, I'm sorry, but I really need to focus right now. Can't it wait?"

Y/N's heart sank at Lily's dismissive tone, her longing for comfort only intensifying. "But Lily, I just... I really need you right now."

Lily closed her textbook with a snap, her irritation clear as she stood up abruptly. "Y/N, I've told you I have to study. Why can't you understand that?"

Tears pricked at the corners of Y/N's eyes, hurt by Lily's harsh response. She took a step back, feeling like an unwanted burden. "I'm sorry," she whispered, her voice trembling. "I didn't mean to bother you."

Lily hesitated for a moment, her expression softening slightly as she realized the impact of her words. She reached out tentatively, but Y/N flinched away, the hurt too raw to accept comfort in that moment.

"I... I'll just go," Y/N murmured, her voice barely audible as she turned and walked away, blinking back tears.

Lily watched her go, a mixture of guilt and frustration swirling inside her. She knew she had been harsh, but the pressure of her studies and her own stress had clouded her judgment. She sank back into her chair, running a hand through her hair in frustration.

A few moments passed before Lily closed her eyes, taking a deep breath to steady herself. With a pang of regret, she realized how badly she had handled the situation. Y/N had needed her, and she had failed to provide the comfort and support that she deserved.

Determined to make amends, Lily set aside her books and hurried after Y/N, finding her in their dorm room, sitting on the edge of her bed with tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Y/N," Lily said softly, her voice filled with remorse. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to snap at you like that. Please forgive me."

Y/N looked up, her eyes red-rimmed but filled with longing. "Lily, I just... I needed you."

Lily moved closer, sitting beside Y/N and taking her hand gently. "I know, and I should have been there for you. I've been so wrapped up in my own stress that I forgot to be there for you when you needed me most."

Y/N nodded, her shoulders trembling with emotion. "It's okay, Lily. I understand."

"No, it's not okay," Lily insisted, her voice firm yet gentle. "You're my priority, Y/N. I love you, and I should never have made you feel like you couldn't come to me."

Y/N leaned into Lily's embrace, feeling the warmth and love she had been yearning for all evening. "I love you too, Lily. I just... I needed to feel close to you."

Lily kissed the top of Y/N's head, holding her close. "I'm here now, and I'm not going anywhere. I promise."

They stayed like that for a while, wrapped in each other's arms, the tension and hurt slowly melting away. In that moment, Lily vowed to always be there for Y/N, to prioritize their love and support above all else. And Y/N knew, with absolute certainty, that she was where she belonged—in Lily's loving embrace.
