The Hogwarts library was quiet, a sanctuary of knowledge and tranquility amidst the usual chaos of school life. Y/N sat at her usual spot, a table near the back with a perfect view of the lake. She was engrossed in her Potions textbook, determined to ace the upcoming exam.
"Mind if I join you?" came a voice, startling Y/N out of her concentration. She looked up to see a Ravenclaw boy, tall and smiling, holding a stack of books.
"Sure," Y/N replied, a little surprised but not opposed to the company.
As the boy settled into the chair opposite her, they exchanged polite small talk. His name was Jonathan, and he seemed genuinely friendly and interested in her studies. They chatted about Potions and the latest Quidditch match, the conversation flowing easily.
However, Y/N wasn't the only one observing this interaction. Marlene McKinnon, her girlfriend, stood a few shelves away, her eyes narrowing as she watched Jonathan lean in a little too close for her liking.
Marlene's possessive streak was well-known among her friends. She loved Y/N fiercely and wasn't afraid to show it. Seeing someone else encroach on what she considered her territory ignited a flame of jealousy.
Marlene walked over, her strides purposeful and confident. She placed a firm hand on Y/N's shoulder, her fingers brushing against her girlfriend's neck in a subtle display of ownership.
"Hey, love," Marlene said, her voice sweet but with an edge. She turned to Jonathan, her smile not reaching her eyes. "I hope you don't mind if I join you two."
Jonathan glanced between them, the tension evident. "Of course not," he replied, though he seemed a bit wary now.
Marlene took the seat next to Y/N, her presence commanding and unmistakable. "What are you two discussing?" she asked, her tone casual but her eyes locked on Jonathan.
"Potions," Y/N said, trying to diffuse the situation. She could feel the undercurrent of Marlene's possessiveness but didn't want to make a scene.
"Ah, Potions," Marlene said, leaning closer to Y/N. "My favorite subject. Jonathan, isn't it? I’m sure you understand how hard Y/N has been working on her studies."
Jonathan nodded, clearly picking up on the tension. "Yes, she's very dedicated. Well, I should probably get going. Nice chatting with you, Y/N."
As Jonathan hurried away, Marlene turned her attention fully to Y/N. "You know, you really shouldn't encourage them," she said, her tone softer now, but still firm.
Y/N sighed, turning to face her girlfriend. "He was just being friendly, Marlene. There was nothing to it."
Marlene's expression softened, but the possessiveness in her eyes remained. "I know, but I can't help it. You're mine, Y/N. I don't like sharing."
Y/N reached out, taking Marlene's hand in hers. "And I'm yours. Always. But you have to trust me. I’m not going anywhere."
Marlene’s shoulders relaxed slightly, and she leaned in to press a gentle kiss to Y/N's forehead. "I know. I just… I can’t stand the thought of losing you."
"You won't," Y/N assured her, smiling. "Now, how about you help me with this Potions homework? I could use your expertise."
Marlene's face lit up, her possessiveness giving way to the warmth of her love. "Anything for you, love."
As they settled back into their studies, Y/N couldn’t help but feel a surge of affection for Marlene. Her possessiveness was just another facet of her fierce love, and as long as they communicated and understood each other, Y/N knew they could handle anything together.
