James Potter was used to being the confident one—the charming, fearless Gryffindor who always had a witty remark or a prank up his sleeve. But when it came to his girlfriend, Y/N, all his bravado seemed to melt away. She had an uncanny ability to fluster him with just a word or a glance, and she knew it all too well.
One sunny afternoon, they were lounging by the Black Lake, enjoying the rare moments of quiet between classes. James was stretched out on the grass, eyes closed, basking in the warmth of the sun, while Y/N sat beside him, reading a book.
Feeling mischievous, Y/N decided it was time to have a little fun. She leaned over and gently ran her fingers through James's messy hair, causing him to stir and open his eyes.
"Hey there, sleepyhead," she said softly, a playful smile dancing on her lips.
James blinked up at her, his heart skipping a beat at the sight of her smile. "Hey yourself," he replied, trying to keep his voice steady.
Y/N leaned in closer, her lips hovering just inches from his ear. "You know, James, you look incredibly handsome when you're all relaxed like this."
James's face turned a shade of pink, and he let out a nervous chuckle. "Do I now?" he said, trying to sound casual but failing miserably.
Y/N nodded, her fingers lightly tracing the line of his jaw. "Mm-hmm. And when you blush, it's even cuter."
James groaned, covering his face with his hands. "Merlin, Y/N, you're going to be the death of me."
Y/N laughed, the sound light and musical. "Oh, come on, James. You know you love it."
James peeked at her from between his fingers, his eyes filled with a mix of affection and exasperation. "Maybe I do," he admitted, sitting up and pulling her into his lap.
Y/N wrapped her arms around his neck, her smile turning softer but no less teasing. "Good, because I love making you blush."
From across the lake, Sirius, Remus, and Peter watched the scene unfold with varying degrees of amusement. Sirius, ever the instigator, nudged Remus with a grin. "Looks like Prongs is getting a taste of his own medicine."
Remus chuckled, nodding in agreement. "It's about time someone managed to fluster him for a change."
Peter snickered, shaking his head. "Y/N really knows how to get under his skin, doesn't she?"
Back by the lake, James tightened his arms around Y/N, resting his forehead against hers. "You're something else, you know that?" he murmured, his eyes filled with genuine admiration.
Y/N's expression softened, and she leaned in to kiss him gently. "And you love it," she whispered against his lips.
James smiled, feeling his heart swell with love for the woman who could so effortlessly turn his world upside down. "Yeah, I really do."
