The common room was warm and quiet, the soft crackle of the fire filling the silence. It was rare to find moments like this, moments where the chaos of their lives gave way to peace. Y/N sat cross-legged on the worn couch, Remus stretched out along her left side, and Sirius sprawled over her lap, his head resting comfortably on her thighs.Remus had fallen asleep first. His long limbs seemed to naturally drape over the available space, one arm draped over Y/N's waist and the other resting against her knee. His breathing was slow and deep, the soft rise and fall of his chest signaling his complete surrender to rest. His hair, slightly unkempt from the day's activities, brushed lightly against Y/N's arm as she absentmindedly ran her fingers through it.Sirius, however, was another story. He'd stretched himself out across Y/N's lap, curling slightly like the world's biggest, most dramatic cat. His head was heavy but comfortable on her legs, and his dark hair was softer than it looked. Every so often, Y/N's fingers would find their way to his scalp, scratching lightly or combing through his hair in rhythmic motions. The first time she stopped, thinking he might be falling asleep, Sirius let out a low, grumbly whine that startled her."Don't stop," he murmured, eyes still closed, voice muffled slightly by her lap.Y/N smirked, biting back a laugh. "You're worse than an actual dog, you know that?"He cracked one eye open, the corners of his lips quirking up in a small smile. "Dogs are loyal. They know what they want. Maybe take it as a compliment, love.""Mm-hmm," she teased but resumed her gentle strokes.Satisfied, Sirius nuzzled closer, tucking his face against her sweater and letting out a sigh of contentment. His body grew heavier as he drifted off, the tension leaving his shoulders, his breathing slowing to match Remus's steady rhythm.Y/N felt the weight of them both—literally and figuratively—but it wasn't unpleasant. In fact, it was comforting. She loved these quiet moments with them, when Sirius let his walls down enough to simply relax and when Remus found peace from his relentless worries. She shifted slightly to grab her book from the armrest, careful not to disturb either of them. The movement made Sirius stir, and he let out another whimper, this one higher-pitched, his brow furrowing slightly. Y/N paused, her hand hovering over his head, trying not to laugh."You're so dramatic," she whispered, pressing her fingers back to his scalp. Instantly, he settled, his body melting back into hers.An hour passed like that. The fire dimmed, casting long shadows across the room, but Y/N didn't move. Her book sat forgotten on the cushion beside her, her attention instead on the steady warmth of Remus and Sirius against her. Occasionally, Sirius twitched in his sleep, his fingers curling lightly into the fabric of her pants. Remus, as always, was calm and still, his only movement the gentle rise and fall of his chest and the occasional mumble that she couldn't quite make out.Y/N smiled to herself, her heart full. These boys—her boys—were so utterly ridiculous and yet so impossibly precious. She knew mornings would bring their usual mischief and chaos, but for now, in the quiet glow of the firelight, they were perfect.
