About a week after the last day of high school, I was still moping around because of Calvin. I was lying on my bed, listening to sad music. I had on my hobo clothes, and a tub of ice cream next to me.
Drown my sorrows in Double Fudge Brownie.
My face and nose were red and puffy from blowing my nose, and probably lying around in my own mucus. There were crumpled up tissues littering my bedroom floor, and my trashcan was full to the brim with food wrappers and damp Kleenex. I groaned into my pillow, my pounding headache made me want to scream.
Suddenly, I felt my bed vibrate, and peeked over at my phone lying next to me.
Emma: Open your door.
Me: ...what?
Emma: Open your door.
Me: Are you here?
Emma: I may be
Me: Just knock...
I heard my doorbell ring from downstairs.
"Seriously..?" I muttered to myself.
I put my pillow back over my head, and continued crying my eyes out. I heard someone open my door.
"Ava, get up."
I let out a drawn out groan, and flipped over so I was on my back.
"What could you possibly want?" I asked her, a bit irritated.
"You need to stop lying around and being all depressed and shit. Why haven't you answered my texts?"
I took a deep breath.
"Do you see the state that I am in? I'm sad and lonely, it takes a lot of work to be like this." I said sarcastically.
Emma rolled her eyes at me. She yanked me up on my bed, and cringed at me.
"Jeez, you look awful."
"I'm aware," I said, rubbing my forehead. "You always know how to make me feel like a princess." I said, glaring at her.
"Come on." she said. She grabbed my arm and pulled me off my bed. She lead me across my house to the closet bathroom, and closed the door.
I blinked at her, and squinted my eyes. My room hasn't really been the brightest place in the world recently.
"Wash your face. It's covered in snot and regret."
I chuckled, and turned the warm water faucet on. I splashed my face, and grabbed my face wash pads and rubbed that on my face.
"Feels better, huh?" Emma asked.
I nodded sleepily, and opened the cabinet above the sink. I grabbed my toothbrush, squeezed a liberal amount of paste on it, and brushed my teeth.
"See? You're even ahead of the game."
"Oh, shut it." I managed to say, without spitting out toothpaste everywhere.
I finished up, and took a shower. Emma practically pushed me in there, and I almost hit my head on the shampoo rack.
After that, we went back into my room.
"Don't you feel better now that you are hygienically up to par?" Emma said, smirking at me.
"Mhm."
"Good, that's great."
"Is that why you're here? Are you like the tooth fairy?"
"I didn't come here to steal your baby teeth, Ava."
