The school day went by fast. All I could think about was the date that I was about to go on.

"Whatcha thinkin' bout?"

I snapped out of my train of thought, as Calvin's eyes pierced through mine.

"Oh, just thinking about these unit circles amiright?"

"Hmm..."

"What? Are you not smart enough to figure out this class?" I said, in a teasing tone.

"Ava, first of all, I have a perfect score in this class. I believe it is you who is not smart enough," he smirked.

"Second of all, I'm sure you're thinking about something else besides math, eh?"

I tried to hide the obvious blush that was appearing on my cheeks.

"What are you implying?"

"I'll bet $1,000 dollars that you're thinking about our date tonight."

"You wish."

The sound of the school bell ringing and the sound of screeching desks and chairs fill the classroom.

"I'll be at your house at 6."

"...okay."

Wow! I didn't stutter even once! Go me!

I sprinted to my house after school.

Great. Now I'm going to have to spend more time getting ready than when we went to the arcade.

I opened the wardrobe and glares at the amount of clothing.

Formal or casual?...I dont want to seem too prepared so I'll just go casual.

I picked out a grey sweater, with blue jeans. I grabbed a pair of my favorite black combat boots, and my blue and pink polka-dotted socks.

What should I do with my hair? Down...up...pigtails...braid...bun? Geez the options are endless. I dont want to seem like I'm putting in too much work, so I'll just bring a hair tie with me.

I heard a knock on my bedroom door. My mother came into my room, without waiting for a response. She was greeted by the sight of her daughter sitting on the floor, surrounded by different clothing items.

"Ava, care to explain yourself?"

Oh god, is she going to be mad?

"Erm..."

"Oh! Is my little girl going on a date~?"

She ran over to me, and pulled me into a tight hug.

"You go girl! Okay, I'll leave you to get ready."

My mom happily skipped out of my room after her outburst.

I suppose that went...well?

I glanced at my alarm clock.

5:57!? Shit I have to hurry up!

I threw on my outfit and hobbled down the stairs, trying to get my shoes on. I saw my mother give me a smile, but her expression changes greatly.

"Oh honey, someones having a bad hair day!"

I am? I thought my hair looked fine...

"I'll just put my hair up and hopefully it won't be too noticeable..."

She shook her head.

"I'm sure your sister won't mind you borrowing a beanie."

Before I could give a response, she was sprinting down the hallway. She came back with a grey, fog colored beanie.
