Many months had passed since Calv had asked me out. The Christmas season and New Years had passed, nothing exciting there. Calvin was as cute as always. But, it's better now that we're dating. But, now is the usual time of grief, the holiday that I dread the most.

Valentines Day.

Yes, it's February 14. My least favorite holiday. Who came up with a holiday specifically for love? I hate it. Yes, I'm in a relationship, but I still can't stand it.

Luckily, it fell on a Saturday. At least I didn't have to be around all of those couples making out in the hallway (even though you could call me and Calvin one of those now).

I was waiting around my house for a while, waiting for Calvin to call me.

My phone beeped. I picked it up eagerly.

Emma: Have a good Valentines Day with your baeeee :* ;)))

Me: You too :*

Dammit. I was hoping for Calvin.

Hours passed and passed.

Am I being too clingy? Maybe he just doesn't want to do anything for it. Are we too early in the relationship to be celebrating this? Maybe I should text him...

I heard my doorbell ring from downstairs.

"Mom! I think the mail's here!" I called from my room.

"Okay!" my mom replied.

I heard her open the door, and have a conversation with the mail guy. Such a nice guy. Now that I'm actually taking the time to listen to him, he has a pretty great voice, too.

"Hey, Ava? Can you come down and help me with this package? I got a new...computer. My old one is breaking down on me..." I heard my mom say, a bit oddly might I add.

"Sure thing, ma. Be down in a second."

I galloped down the stairs, rolling up my long sleeved pajama shirt on the way. I don't need my hands getting caught on them and dropping the box on my mom's foot or something...that would be bad.

"Okay, how big is this box?" I asked.

Before she could answer, I figured out why she sounded suspicious earlier.

Calvin was standing there with a bouquet of flowers in his hands, and a few hand wrapped gifts.

Grinning profusely, I ran up to him and hugged him as tight as I could bear. I could smell the arrangement of flowers and they smelt great. I pulled away, and I saw my mom snapping pictures of us on her phone.

"Mom!"

"Sorry, hun. I have to remember my girls first Valentines Day with a boy! Ooh, this would be great for Facebook!" she said, and scrambled out of the room.

I sighed.

"Sorry about her. You know how she can be."

"It's cool, babe." he said, placing his arm around me and kissing me hair.

I smirked, and led him towards my room. Wow, that sounded more sexual than I intended. We went up the stairs, and into my room, closing the door behind us. I placed the beautiful flowers on my nightstand. The mix of roses, baby's breath, and larkspur gave out the most magnificent scent.

"Open your stuff!"

I snickered, and started picked up one of the boxes that Calvin had dumped on my bed,

"Before I open anything, you almost gave me a heart attack by not texting me ."

Calvin gave me a puzzled look.
