My boots were clicking down the damp sidewalk, echoing through the streets.
Where were we meeting again? God dammit...
I took my phone out of my back pocket and scrolled through my messages once more.
Calvin: Hey Aves! We gotta plan. Were going to the park. We could play around just like when we were 12 (⌒▽⌒) I may be a little late though. Don't have fun without me :3
I think I know the park...its the only park around here. The other one is in a different city so...
I continued running towards my destination, until I felt something cold on my skin.
Is it snowing?!
I looked up at the sky and saw the minuscule flakes of snow swaying along with the wind. There was already ice on the ground, so I had a feeling that school might be cancelled.
Ah whatever. Mother Nature can't stop me from anyth-
My thoughts were cut off, as I slipped and fell over a large sheet of ice covering the walkway.
I cringed at the thought of my clumsiness...and also of how much my butt hurt.
Just as I was about to get up, a hand extended towards me.
"Need a hand?"
I looked up and saw a mysterious man offering me his hand. I smiled at him and took up the offer. I stood up slowly and took a glance at the man who helped me.
He had long, blonde hair and he was wearing those hipstery glasses. He was dressed in a long-sleeved sweater with jeans and a scarf. He had a cup of coffee in hand. He was very attractive.
"Are you alright? You took quite the fall...and it looks like you weren't expecting the snow."
I blushed in embarrassment.
"Erm, yes I'm fine. I just hope no one else witnessed that...that was mortifying."
"Ah, don't be too hard on yourself. I am quite the clumsy fellow myself. But if you'll excuse me, I need to get going."
"Okay, thank you so much for the help."
The man started walking the way that I was coming from.
"Oh by the way," the man said. "It was nice to see you again Ava, you haven't changed a bit."
I turned around, the the mystery man didn't turn around and kept walking.
...do I know him? If not, that would be very creepy.
I continued to walk towards the park (I think..).
Do I know any blonde hipsters? I don't know anyone who would be in America at least...hmph. Okay mystery man, I'll figure you out eventually.
I walked and walked and walked some more until I finally came across the park.
I walked through the archway and was
welcomed by the cheers of children having snowball fights and building snowmen."Ava, over here!"
I looked to my left and saw a familiar figure waving at me.
That's not Calvin's or Nick's voice...oh what was that guys name? Carter maybe?
I walked towards the group. There was only about 8 people there. Probably 9 soon since Calvin said he would be late. There was Carter, Bella, Steven, Dylan, Nick, myself, and two unknown individuals making out on a bench.
They must be warm...
Is that Emma? Good god, I wanted her and Nick to go out so badly though! Ah whatever...who's she making out with then? Emma must have heard the conversation stop and stopped mushing face.
The moment I saw who the guy was, my heart dropped.
Wait...Emma and Calvin were making out?!
My eyes widened. Calvin looked at me with a worried expression.
"Hey Ava. Glad you could make it..."
"Yep...sure thing..."
The whole day passed by in a blur. I didn't really pay attention to anything, and I didn't really have fun. The only thing I could think about was the image of my best friend and my crush kissing right in front of my eyes.
I escaped the park and ran home before anyone could notice how silent I was being.
I feel my phone buzz in my pocket as I run.
Emma: Where the hell did u go?! Missin ya bb (^ω^)
She texted me. I'm really not in a mood to talk to her. I ignored her text and continued running until I got to my house.
"Hey honey! You're home earlier than I expected. You okay?"
"Yes mom, just worn out I suppose."
"Okay darling. Tell me if you need anything!"
I go upstairs to my room. My phone vibrates again.
Emma: Can't ignore me hun. Comin over wether you like it or not
Great.
I heard my doorbell ring soon after I read the text.
"Ava! Your friend Emma's here!"
I slowly go down the stairs, not in the mood to be nice.
"Hey girly! Why'd you leave so-"
I grabbed her wrist and pulled her upstairs.
"Shush! Do you want my mom to think I'm antisocial?"
"...well you kinda are."
I frowned at her.
"Shut up. Now why are you here?"
"To see why you left early. You can't ignore my texts, so I came here. So why'd you leave early?"
"I don't know...I'm pretty tired."
"Are you mad because I kissed Calvin?"
Fuck.
"Er...no. It has nothing to do with that."
I let my head drop. Letting Emma know my feelings for Calvin would only lead to disaster.
"Ya can't hide your feelings for so long, Ava. I had a feeling you were shot by Cupid's arrow."
"Pft. Cupid my ass. I have no such feelings for Calvin."
"You know it was just a show, right? I told Calvin that I thought that you liked him and he didn't believe me. So I said that you would be jelly if we kissed. Not sure if he believes me now but-"
"Emma!"
"What?"
"Why would you do that?!"
I felt my whole world crumble down. My normal relationship with him is crashed and burned. He'll never look at me the same way ever again...
I laid back-up on my bed, and moaned loudly.
"Erm...Ava?"
I breathed deeply.
"Please. Just leave me be."
"But-"
"Go."
I heard a sigh, then soft footsteps leading out of my door. When I lifted my head up, she was gone.
What kind of stupid plan was that?
