My heart races as my eyes lock onto a group of men, maybe 4 or 5 but my mind spins so badly I can't tell. The men wear the same as the ones in Samuel's place; they must be the ones who were following Anna and me. The black leather embellishing their jackets reflects, whatever is left of, the sun. It could either be sunrise or sunset, the sky is painted with a beautiful pink and orange mist, like it is slowly starting to burn. I hear them shouting at each other lining up their guns at my heart. I frantically rush to find my gun but it's under Anna's body and just too far out of my reach. I notice this one man constantly glancing to the side of him, looking at the edge of the roof and the drop down. His gun rattles slightly in his wavering hands. He's afraid of heights. Just like Tobias.

One man steps forwards, his incredibly short hair reminds me of the Dauntless, hair was more a distracting annoyance than anything else. He noticed me trying to reach for my gun and picks up Anna's limp body as if it were a small child, and throws her cruelly a few yards away, a trial of blood following her. He picks up the gun and slides it into his belt. His face is expressionless, his eyes gouging maleficently into mine. Then suddenly, like a clicking of the fingers, a grin emerged onto his face. Panting, I try to see a way out of this but there is nothing, especially not in the state I'm in. But I can't get killed, not now. I open my mouth to say sometime, anything, when another pain hits me, causing me to wince and recoil instead. The man laughs and looks around the share the amusement with his friends. I read the word "Dunne" on his arm, his name, just like my jacket.

"Well, well, well. If that's not bad timing I don't know what is." He lets out a growling laugh, followed by the rest joining in. "You honestly thought you could escape us?!"

"I've done it before." I retaliate, anger rising in me as each second passes.

"Yes, but that time you had Zeke and look what happened to him," This Dunne man knows that comment will stop me in my tracks, "and Anna is already too dead to help you this time. Shame really , I was always hoping for round two with her. She'd already gone through half of the guys but I knew she liked me the most, I mean who wouldn't, huh?" He licks his lips and looks me up and down before giving me a challenging look. Arrogance radiates off of him like heat from a nuclear bomb explosion. His whole aura repulses me; maybe that's why he works for Samuel. I really doubt that what he says with Anna would be true, or at least, not twisted to have an effect on me. I give an indignant snort in reply, knowing anything I say now would make the situation worse. Not that it could get much worse.

Another man behind Dunne looks at his wrist and says, "Dunne, come on, we don't have all day. Just kill the damn girl." Dunne twists his hand around to swear at the interrupter, the gun in his other hand not even quivering slightly. He sighs dramatically and rolls his eyes at me.

"Well, guess I must." He shrugs as if it is such a menial task, like choosing what clothes to put on in the morning. "You know what, how about I shoot your baby first? Put it out its misery." The thought makes me sick, and to make it worse, another pain pounds from my lower abdomen.

"If this is your idea is being kind then you've never been more wrong." I manage to say, though somewhat more quiet and raspy than I'd hoped it to come across. I'm down to my last resort, unable to move from pain and with no weapon in reach.

"When did kindness ever come into it Beatrice?" He snarls with a smile.

My mind struggles for a response to buy me time, "I'm sure that word meant something to you at one point."

"At one point, yes, back when I was younger and stupid. A bit like you, really, young and stupid."

"Stupid enough to still be alive this long, to overthrow corrupt governments and save thousands of lives."
