Some of us didn't learn to read, I wonder why?

"Mum, can we please go a bit faster?" Bluey was getting a bit impatient.

"Sure Blues"

Just at the sound of that word Bluey's brain had a short-circuit. It needed some time to process the information, so about 3 working days.

"What? Do you not like the nick?"

"No, I'm sure she likes it, considering he called her that way too" Bingo whispered.

"Bingo!" Chilli whispered back. Bluey was there but wasn't entirely there, and she wanted to take no chances.

"I know I'm not supposed to drop the forbidden knowledge in front of Bluey but I'm not sure she's conscious enough to care"

"Listen, we'll talk about this later, for now make sure she still has a pulse" Chilli whispered back.

Bingo complied and started shaking her sister. "Bluey! Abbot Point to Bluey! BLUEY!!!"

"AHH!"

"Thank goodness, you're still alive"

"What happened?"

"Well, mum called you a nickname and you got redder than Rusty! Look at you!"

"Speaking about Rusty" Chilli intervened "We are already at his place"

"Thanks mum!"

Bluey got out of the car. After a few seconds, Chilli asked Bingo "What do you still remember about the day of the incident?"

- - -

"Knockity knock!"

"It's open!"

Bluey opened the door and found Rusty in his living room, atop some stairs (trying to) hang a sign on the wall.

"Happi- fo- fourteen, ja- Jackson?"

"It's 'Happy Fourteen, Jackie'"

"Well it seems Calypso didn't teach all of us how to write properly"

"Well it seems some of us didn't learn to read either. Got the package?"

"Yep. Just be careful, otherwise you could smudge it with your lettering paint" said Bluey as she handed the bat to Rusty.

"Aw, it looks awesome!" Rusty said in awe. "I'm also gifting him a model spacecraft!"

"just a spacecraft?" Rusty blushed

"Yes Bluey, even we have standards"

"Is 'make out when you should be learning your ABCs' one of them?"

"Is 'make out when you should be grounded' one of yours?"

"Don't being Kenz into this!" Bluey seemed infuriated at that comment.

"Damn! chill I was just joking"

"Well, talking about jokes, I think Bingo already figured out your secret"

Rusty was about to say something, but put his hand on his snout, went towards his door, locked it, went back to bluey, took his hand o-

"WHAT!?!"

"Yep, she said you two were 'very close friends' and made a teasy face"

"Oh shit oh shit oh shit-"

"Rusty! Calm down!"

"You don't understand! If my family found out, a permanent vacation to Aotearoa would be a walk in the park! Oh shit oh shit oh-"

"I'm sure Bingo won't tell anyone-"

"Except Lila, and Missy, and Ban-"

"Okay I get your point, I'll confront her later"

"Are you still coming to the party tonight?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Well, I need some help before the party starts, I want Jack to have the best night of his life"

"...And we circle back to the model spacecraft" That made Rusty chuckle, and blush. Again.

"...Then Mia arrived and you left until the next day"

"Well Bingo, I don't know if you want to know what happened while we wer-"

"TURN ON THE CAR, MUM!" A muffled voice was heard in the distance.

"well, maybe I'll tell you a different day"

Bluey entered the car and took a seat.

"Well, let's go!"
