A/N: Hello there, Wind here!
First off, I think I should explain the standardised version of dividers that'll be used from now on:
'– – –' separates scenes
'~~~' is a flashback.
'~~~~~' is a timeline switch
'°°°°°' is something that happens in both timelines + timeline switch.
'+++' is a message/phone callAnyways, thanks for all the support I've gotten both in Ao3 and Wattpad. Never did I ever think my shit writing would get so popular to get acknowledged by some of my favourite authors, many of whom I now consider my friends :)
Denouement:
The final part of a story where all the loose ends are tied up and the conflict is resolved. It's the conclusion or outcome of a complex series of events.
"C'mon Winnie! We have to find him before he tries something stupid!" Bluey yelled as both of them ran through the thick forestry of the creek. As Bluey made her way in front, memories long buried started to resurface, for better or for worse...
~~~~~
"No further from here on a car." Said Skye as she got out of her yellow Hundewagen vehicle and felt the cold breeze and rain on her fur.. Bandit and Charles followed soon after. "Well, we'll have to walk," said the Blue Heeler in a rather desperate tone. "I just hope they're okay..."
The three began to make their way through the creek, walking through certain dirt walkways which were formed over time. The creek was a relatively unknown place in Brizzy, so most of the pathways were formed by them. Ever since they had visited the creek for the first time it had become a common occurrence to pop by every weekend or so.
Mind you, it was cold. All of them were wearing winter attire yet were still shivering. The only thing that remotely dared to wander throughout Bandit's worried brain were terrifying thoughts right out of his deepest, most horrendous nightmares. What if they were freezing? What if they already froze? What if something worse had happened and he wasn't there to save his daughter?
He had always attempted to be the best parent in the world. Don't get me wrong, Bandit loved his parents, yet he believed he could parent his own children in a far better way than they did with him. But now? He felt like the worst dog to have ever roamed planet earth (and let me tell ya, in a job like the one of his' he knew plenty of terrible dogs).
Just imagine yourself in a position like his: Your daughter sneaks out of her school with her Kindy husband (who's also been neglected since birth) during a hurricane, they get severely injured and in your infinite wisdom you agree to shipping the neglected child off across the Tasman sea, they figure it out and sneak out into the wild in retaliation. Would you not feel like shit?
As all of these scenarios played out in Bandit's brain, the two cops also had their own thoughts. Why? Why would these kids seemingly decide that running away alone would be a good idea?
That didn't matter anymore, as it was starting to hail. In Queensland. Talk about climate change.
Now, Bandit's day(night?)mares were becoming increasingly worse and worse. What if they fell off somewhere? What if they starved? What if they got eaten by some wild animal? This is Australia! Anything could happen to them! Not only are they children out and about against Mother Nature, but they're also injured to add salt to the wound!
Should something happen to Bluey, he'd never, ever forgive himself.
...And then there's Mackenzie.
