Chapter 37- Pregnant

Good morning, love! How are you feeling?

That was the message that greeted me when I opened my phone.

Kahit na mabigat ang mga mata ko dahil sa pag-iyak kagabi ay hindi ko napigilan na mapangiti, lalo na sa isipin na mamaya na ang uwi ni Duke.

I replied to his message and went to my bathroom.

When I got home last night, kuya Royse and kuya Cassian were waiting for me at the door of the mansion.

Even though they didn't tell me, I know Duke has called them to look out for me.

Hindi ko na sinabi ang nangyari para hindi na sila mag-alala.

Sumagot ako ng ilang emails at nagsend ng mga documents kay Callie bago ako mag-breakfast at humarap sa kusina.

I'm not confident in my Italian cuisine. I looked for recipes and procedures in the book I brought when I was still in Italy. Naaalala ko pa naman kung paano magluto, pero ayokong magkamali.

I decided to cook vitello tonnato, ribollita soup, and tiramisu. As well as Duke's request for baked mac.

"Gagawin mo lang ba kaming taster, ate Yanna?" Nilingon ko si Jesian na humihikab pa habang umuupo sa counter at ang kambal na kumukuha ng toast bread sa table.

Since it's his day off, I asked him to rate my food. Ganoon din ang kambal.

"Of course not. Dadamihan ko na para sa inyo. Ikaw talaga." Inabot ko sa kaniya ang tinimpla ko na kape.

Jesian is a black coffee addict. Kahit noong hindi pa siya doctor mahilig na talaga siyang magkape.

While milk for our twins.

"Thank you." Lumawak ang ngiti nila.

"How did you adjust to living in Italy, ate Yanna?" As time goes by, Cosette is aging into a fine woman.

"Well, aside from being there many times, I stay connected with the people. I also take time to explore their culture, and among all, I treat the country like a home extension," nagkatinginan kami nila Jesian.

"It's hard to adapt, Cosette. Lalo na dahil first time mo na aalis at maninirahan sa ibang bansa. America is the land of the free. There are a lot of widely accepted activities there that we don't do here. Sigurado na maninibago ka at mabibigla," ani ni Jesian.

Ilang beses pa lang nakakapunta si Cosette ng America, mga maiikling vacation. Kasama pa niya kami.

"Jesian is right, baby. Sigurado na mahihirapan ka. As time goes on, makakasanayan mo rin naman, pero ang tangi lang namin na bilin sayo ay huwag ka basta-basta lalabas ng mag-isa, lalong-lalo na kapag gabi. Americans love partying. Don't easily trust anyone, even if you become close with them." Nag-aalala talaga kami.

Although we know this will be good for Cosette, we don't want her to live alone.

Hindi siya marunong magluto, mga simpleng prito lang ang alam niya. We regret treating them like babies so much. Now that they want to stand on their own two feet, we are so worried.

Mukhang mapapadalas ang pagpunta namin ng America nito.

Way back when I was in Italy, they always visited me. Halos hindi ko nga naramdaman na mag-isa ako. That's what we want Cosette to feel. Lalo na si kuya Royse at kuya Cassian. Baka nga nakakadalawang-araw pa lang doon si Cosette puntahan na nila.

"I'll always keep that in mind, ate Yanna, kuya Jesian. I'll go there to study, right? I want to become a great lawyer so that I can help a lot of people and make you all proud." Nagkatinginan kami at hindi napigilan na yakapin si Cosette.
