On Sunday, Minji invited Hanni to lunch, and to her surprise, Hanni agreed. She thought it would take some convincing calls from her part, but she was surprised by how it turned out in the end.At twelve ten in the afternoon, Hanni met her near her apartment building. She wore a casual summer dress down to her knees, which hung off her shoulder, exposing her creamy shoulders. This infuriated Minji, but she repressed her anger. She believed that any woman should only expose herself to the person she was supposed to be with, and seeing Hanni running around in short dresses made her furious.
"Good afternoon, Minji," she said as she slid into the passenger seat of the car. She quickly straightened her dress. Good girl.
Minji smiled despite her anger and kissed her cheek, which surprised Hanni. "Good afternoon, beautiful. I'm glad you decided to give me a chance. I swear you won't regret it."
Hanni gave her a heart-melting smile, and they drove themselves to a nice and picturesque restaurant by the lake. It had a pleasant atmosphere and was famous for its delicious seafood.
Minji was never the type to try local restaurants, but this particular place was recommended by Hanni, and she had sworn to do what her girl wanted her to do. To show her what Minji wanted her to see.
The place was crowded when they arrived, the faint aroma of garlic and bread permeating the air. Minji hated crowded places, she was a sociopath, usually kept to herself, and never had a friend other than Jake, but when it came to socializing, she put on masks and acted as if she belonged there.
The waitress argued that a reservation was necessary, and Hanni seemed upset by the fact that they wouldn't have lunch there, so Minji quickly handed the waitress some money without Hanni noticing the trick. The best table was theirs. Who said money couldn't buy happiness? Because Hanni seemed happy.
Hanni occasionally looked at Minji and then looked away as if analyzing her, trying to read her emerald eyes. The food arrived a few minutes later, and true to Hanni's word, it smelled good. They didn't talk much, about nothing important. Hanni only answered questions that Minji asked her, which was not a good sign.
It was when dessert arrived that Hanni asked, "Do you like the food?"
Swallowing the chocolate pudding, Minji replied, "Yes, it's great." Hanni seemed pleased. "So, have you thought about me?" Minji asked.
"What about you?" Hanni smiled.
Minji smiled, amused. "You know what I'm talking about, Hanni."
The way Hanni was playing with her food told Minji that she was anxious. "I really believe you've changed. I want to believe that, Minji. My heart tells me to believe it, but my mind keeps telling me it's not true." Hanni was a smart girl, but Minji hadn't spent the last half month trying to convince this girl just so she could reject her outright.
If this were the Stone Age, Minji would probably drag this woman back to her cave by the roots of her hair, but this was the damn 21st century, so she was trying to disguise and control her fury.
"I understand how you feel, but all I asked for was a chance, and I'm not going to ruin it. I hope you know that I'm yours. I've always been since the day your mother showed me your picture." Her eyes widened because it was the first time either of them had mentioned anything about their circumstances. It was the first time either of them acknowledged the fact that Hanni was nothing more than a beautiful commodity that her mother decided to sell for the luxury she lived in. Minji thought she saw drops of tears at the corners of her eyes.
"I don't have much with me, but slowly, I'll pay you back what you gave my mother. I hope that's okay."
Minji placed her hand over Hanni's, and she flinched. "I have enough money to support a dozen lives. You don't need to worry about that. Just think about me."
"I don't care how rich you are or if..." her words were cut off by the shadow of a person approaching their table.
"Ms. Kim, it's so good to see you here," said Hyunjin, forcing a smile. His eyes moved to Hanni and then to Minji.
"Hyunjin, how are you now? What a pleasant surprise!" Minji decided to go along with it.
Hyunjin kept smiling. "I'm very well, all thanks to you."
The woman accompanying him stepped forward and took Minji's hand. "Thank you so much for saving my husband, Ms. Kim." Her eyes were starting to tear up, but she continued. "Hyunjin told me how you stopped the man from attacking him. I can't thank you enough."
Minji returned the smile and stood up to give her a casual hug. "It was the right thing to do. I think anyone in my place would have done the same." Like a true lady, Minji gave the woman her handkerchief to play the part of the good woman who hadn't assaulted but rather saved her husband from more harm.
Hyunjin watched from the side, fully aware of the disguised woman in front of him, the farce. Minji smiled; Hyunjin's wife, whom he mentioned was named Sakura, seemed to see Minji as a heroine, which bothered Hyunjin because it was far from the truth. Hyunjin could only lie to his wife to keep the monster from harming his family.
"I have to invite you to dinner when you're free, please," said Sakura.
"Saku!" Hyunjin warned her.
"I insist," she pressed.
Minji nodded. "Of course, ma'am. It would be a pleasure."
Sakura turned to Hanni and with total sincerity said, "You're very lucky."
With that, the couple left.
After dessert, Minji paid the bill, and they left the restaurant in silence, Hanni following horrified by the previous encounter. Minji couldn't help but smile; she knew she had played her cards right.
They settled into the car, and Hanni still hadn't said a word. Minji remained casual; after all, what she had mastered was the art of nonchalance.
"Did you save that man?" Hanni asked.
Minji took a deep breath as if she didn't want to brag, but she had asked. "I did."
Hanni's eyes were once again filled with tears and what Minji assumed was pure happiness. "You really have changed, haven't you?"
"Han, my girl... I'm trying..."
Hanni shook her head. "Why didn't you tell me about this before?"
When Minji slid her arm around her waist and pulled her into her lap, she surrendered easily. She brushed the dark strands of hair from her face while her tongue slipped out to glide over her wet cheeks.
"I want to see you happy, baby."
Hanni sobbed. "I'm so happy right now."
Minji closed the distance and softly pecked her lips. When she was sure Hanni wasn't going to protest, she took her lower lip into her mouth and gently sucked on it. Hanni's arms wrapped around Minji's neck and into her soft hair. She moaned when Minji's tongue slipped into her mouth. She wanted to bite her lip hard, but she knew it would catch Hanni off guard and maybe scare her. Her hand was wandering at the hem of her dress, shy of her pale thighs. All she wanted to do was tear her dress and fuck her until she screamed, but she realized she would also have to wait for that. She wasn't a patient woman, but for Hanni, she was willing to do it.
"I love you, Han," Minji whispered between hot kisses. She didn't answer but continued assaulting her lips, indicating that she would soon say the two words.
She would have to thank Jake later. If he hadn't sent the idiot to warn Hanni, none of this would have happened.
Minji placed Hanni in the passenger seat, and she was smiling in all her splendor.
"Let me take you home," Minji said as she drove the car onto the road.
Things were finally falling into place.
