"Minji!" Someone shouted her name. She turned to find the only person she knew would appear.
"There you are," Minji said, walking towards the edge of the fence.
Hanni stood a few meters away from them, her hands extended, eyes full of tears. "Minji, please."
"You love me, right, Han?" Minji asked.
Hanni whispered, "Don't do this."
Minji took another step away from her, Daehan still crying in her arms. "I'm tired, baby. I want to join you too, but when I think of Daehan living alone in this world and growing up to be like me, I don't think I want that future for him. So, why don't we all reunite?"
Hanni shook her head and pleaded, "I'm alive, Minji. Let Dae go. Please."
The concern on Minji's face turned into a wide smile as she began to laugh hysterically, the sound rumbling like thunder—dangerous and cruel at the same time.
Minji looked at her with the same icy stare that used to scare Hanni. "You're not a ghost. I realized that a few days ago."
"Daehan has nothing to do with this," Hanni pleaded. "Here I am. Let him go."
"Alright," Minji placed Daehan on the ground. "Did you really think I would kill my own son?" She laughed mockingly. "I knew your weakness, Han."
Daehan ran into his mother's open arms. She hugged him fiercely and showered his face with kisses.
"I missed you, mommy..." Daehan said between sobs.
"I know, sweetheart. I'm so sorry," Hanni hugged him tighter. She kissed the top of his head once. "Go down to your room, Daehan. I'll be back in a little while."
"Do you promise?" Daehan asked.
Hanni nodded and watched Daehan leave the rooftop, turning to face her worst adversary—her own wife.
Minji seemed amused, yet upset by the fact that her wife had betrayed her and made her think she was dead, always following her sister's plan. "The game's over, Han."
It enraged her that she had chosen Haerin over her.
She put her leg around the barrier and stood on the edge, looking down at the ground. "Before I go, I want some answers."
"Minji, no. You just need help."
Minji turned her tear-streaked face to her. "Did you even love me?"
Hanni sobbed, "I did. But you didn't love me."
"What gives you the idea that I didn't love you? I did everything for you, paid your father's debts, gave you a roof over your head, bought you fucking diamonds, married you. Wasn't that enough?" Minji spat, her eyes turning red. "And what did you do in return? You cheated on me."
"You hurt me," Hanni murmured softly.
Minji extended her hand. "Let's end this now, Han. I'm too scared to do this alone. Come with me."
Hanni had tears in her eyes.
Was this really the end for her?
"I don't want to die," she said.
"Come on, baby. This is what you wanted, right?"
Hanni took a nervous step forward. "Let me help you."
"No one can help me, Han," she said sadly, and for the first time, Hanni knew it wasn't an act.
Minji wanted to end it by killing herself and taking her with her.
Minji gripped the fence tightly. "They can't help me."
Hanni moved closer to her; she could hear faint sounds of sirens.
The police.
She wondered if Haerin had called them.
"MINJI STOP!" Haerin shouted.
Minji jumped off the railing, but Haerin grabbed her arm before she could fall.
Three armed policemen rushed towards them and helped lift Minji up.
Without further warning, a slim police officer secured a pair of metal handcuffs around Minji's wrists. "Mrs. Kim Minji, you are under arrest on charges of..."
Hanni tuned out the officer's voice and that's when she noticed the way Minji was looking at her. Her lips were pressed together, the corners of her mouth curving into a faint smile.
"You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be..." They recited her rights.
Minji walked past her and whispered, "I'll come back for you. You're mine, Han. And I won't let Haerin take what has always been mine."
Hanni turned pale and goosebumps appeared on her arms.
Haerin and Hanni watched as Minji was placed inside the police car.
Her eyes were still fixed on Hanni with a strange look.
Haerin rubbed Hanni's shoulders. "It's over, Hanni. Minji won't be back."
