I was still getting used to everything; the maids and butlers were always ready at every whim and command. I didn't have to cook my own food, and I didn't have to worry about paying bills.

It had been a few days since our marriage, and so far, I was more than happy. And today, Minji was taking me shopping because she thought I needed new clothes for our honeymoon trip.

I showered, got dressed in about twenty minutes, and went downstairs. Seokmin told me that Minji was waiting for me inside the car.

When I got in, Minji gave me a stern look. "I thought I told you to be ready in 15 minutes," Minji said. There was nothing scary in her tone, but I didn't like the expression in her eyes, almost as if the old Minji had returned.

"Sorry. I didn't expect to find a full wardrobe of clothes. I was confused about what to wear," I explained.

Her expression softened as she pulled me into her lap and ran her hand through my hair. "It's okay. You look gorgeous."

"Thank you."

Minji took me to a street filled with stores exclusively selling designer clothes. It seemed the seller knew who Minji was and always courteously led me to the clothes and helped me choose. When I noticed the price, I was shocked.

My salary at the restaurant wasn't even close to the price, but Minji shrugged it off as if it was natural. We headed to a café after shopping.

Minji's hand was on mine. "Minji... this is too expensive, and I really don't need so many clothes. My wardrobe is already..."

"Han," she said. "I can afford this. You're the wife of a billionaire now; this is part of your normal life. You only wear the best, eat the best, and live like a queen. Forget who you were before. Get used to this new lifestyle." She said it with such authority that I saw glimpses of the old Minji from time to time, and it scared me a little. I nodded, not wanting to argue anymore. "How about a coffee?" she asked, kissing my cheek.

"Sure, that would be great."

"Okay. I'll order it. Find a good seat," she smiled and went to the barista. I waited.

Wasn't she supposed to ask me what kind of coffee I preferred?

I picked up a magazine from the shelves and saw an empty table in the corner. I was heading toward it when someone called out to me.

"But if it isn't Hanni Pham," I turned to find the owner of the voice and found myself looking at a familiar face. Park Jay Jongseong, my ex-boyfriend. He looked the same as before. Tall, red-haired, and deep brown-eyed; somewhat like a video game character. Jay smiled, and before I knew it, he wrapped me in an intimate hug. "It's so good to see you, Hanni," he pulled back, and there was a broad smile on his face as he gave me a once-over and whistled. "Looks like you're doing very well." I smiled in response.

Jay and I had a bad breakup because I discovered he had secretly gotten back with his ex-girlfriend. However, I wasn't the type of person to hold a grudge against someone for life.

"So, what are you doing here?"

"I'm actually here with my wife," I told him.

"Wife? You're married?" His eyes widened in surprise. "That's wonderful news. Congratulations! So, who's the lucky one?"

Before I could point out Minji, she was already by my side. Her arm was possessively around my waist. "Who's your friend, Han?"

Jay extended his hand toward Minji. "I'm Park Jay. An old friend of Hanni's." That crooked smile suggested otherwise, and it was a dead giveaway of what he wanted to imply. Jay had always been the type to joke about everything. If he knew my wife... Minji would have to be stupid not to notice, but that was the problem; she wasn't stupid. In fact, she was smarter than the average human being.

Minji shook Jay's hand. "Kim Minji." Jay was now studying Minji with his gaze, and the whole situation was making me uncomfortable. "Why don't you join us for coffee, Jay?"

Jay shook his head. "Oh, no, I have an errand to run. I'm going to be late. Maybe another time. Thanks for the offer, though." He scratched the back of his neck. "It was nice seeing you again, Hanni," he said, and his gaze fixed on my diamond ring.

I knew what he was thinking, that it was out of interest; a woman who married a billionaire to have everything she wanted and finally live a better life without working, but that was far from the truth, and I didn't think Jay deserved an explanation.

"Likewise," I said politely.

As soon as Jay left, Minji pushed the coffee cup into my hand. "We're going home."

Clearly, Minji was in a bad mood.

We got home, and I was heading to the kitchen to see what they planned to make for dinner, but Minji called me.

"I want to see you in our room. Right now," she said and quickly went upstairs.

I knew from personal experience that if Minji needed to call me, it had to be an important matter. I went upstairs and headed straight to our room.

When I opened the door, I noticed Minji was fixing herself a drink. When the door closed behind me, she immediately assaulted me with a question. "Who was that man?" Minji asked, taking a sip of her drink.

I didn't think lying was a good start if I wanted a good married life. "Jay was an ex-boyfriend."

It was in that second that I didn't see it coming, but I collapsed to the floor with a hard blow to the cheek when I felt the force of her impact.

Minji had hit me.

Shock and pain were my first reactions.

What did I say wrong?

I looked at her and noticed a flash of horror and fear. Her brown eyes didn't seem to hold any remorse or empathy. She looked exactly like the woman I had run away from.

I closed my eyes and opened them again, wanting it to be a horrible nightmare, but this was reality.

The expression on her face said it all. That's when I realized the huge mistake I had made.

Minji hadn't changed at all.

And these past few months had been a beautiful illusion.
