A month laterI was losing my patience as I watched Minji reading the newspaper. What was the point of inviting me for tea when she was going to ignore me the whole time?
The sun was brighter than usual, and we were sitting on the patio. I had spent a month and two weeks in this mansion. My routine hadn't changed. It was the same. Day after day. I would have breakfast with Minji in the morning, return to my room, then spend the day reading books, having lunch, strolling in the patio, having dinner, and sleeping. I even cooked for her several times. I was completely isolated from the outside world. I felt suffocated within the four walls of the luxurious mansion. I did exactly what I was told, and nothing had changed. I needed those benefits.
"Minji," I called her.
"Yes, my love?" she replied.
"It's been a month," I reminded her.
"So?" She arched an eyebrow.
My hands were clenched into fists. "The rulebook says I get Silver benefits after behaving and successfully following your rules for a month, and I think I've done everything I was told."
There was a smile on her face. "That's true. You've been a good girl for the past month, and I'm really surprised." She pulled a silver envelope from her chest pocket. "You deserve it, but..."
There's always a catch.
"But?" My eyes were on the envelope. That envelope contained my first key to freedom. I could stroll through the garden, watch movies, swim in the pool without having to ask Minji. Just one more month of following those rules, and I could get out of the house with the Gold benefits.
Minji's brown eyes scanned the surroundings and met mine. She licked her lips. "I want you to kiss me."
My heart stopped. "What?"
"You heard me, Hanni. I want you to kiss me, and if you please me with the kiss, the envelope is yours."
"That wasn't written in the rulebook," I gritted my teeth, and my voice broke a little.
"I MAKE THE FUCKING RULES!" Minji slammed her fist on the table. "And you need to watch your damn mouth. I won't tolerate any backtalk." She continued. "One more word and you won't get this envelope for another month. Do you really want that, Hanni?"
I closed my eyes and felt the tears welling up. I needed to control them. I was stronger than this. Besides, a kiss wasn't going to hurt. It would be like kissing one of those ex-boyfriends I had during high school.
I stood up and took a step toward her chair. She leaned back and studied me with her usual nonchalance. I closed my eyes and leaned in. Minji grabbed my wrist and forced me to sit on her lap. Slowly, I placed my hand on her chest and leaned in again, this time lightly brushing my lips, testing if she would make any move. I realized she was letting me take the lead, so I claimed her lips fully this time. Slowly, I kissed her deeper, capturing her lower lip in my mouth and licking it. I heard her moan and felt her arms wrap around my back. I let my hands travel to her soft hair and ran my fingers through her strands.
Finally, Minji returned the kiss with a broader passion. A minute later, we were still kissing; she seemed to kiss me as if we had been in love for the past years. And I gasped when I noticed the bulge in her pants. This bastard was aroused. Suddenly, a sense of dread washed over me as I wondered what she would ask me to do to unlock the Gold benefit.
I quickly discarded the thought. I needed to focus on my present. Minji finally pulled back, looking like she had been drugged. She caressed my face with the back of her hand. "Oh, honey, I wish I could give you the Gold benefit. You know how to kiss a woman, and you do it well."
