"This is ridiculous," seethed Aiden as they left the courtroom. "Everything was so obvious. Why do they need more time? Why another hearing?"

Their enemy had all left the moment the judge declared the end of the hearing.

"They can't buy the judge. But that doesn't mean they can't buy the jury." said John seriously, stopping in a corner and causing others to gather around him.

David turned to Roger and Lora who had joined them after the end of the hearing. "Thank you so much for coming today." he said, doing his best to show his gratitude in his face and eyes despite his sour and agitated mood. "I will be forever in your debt."

"Don't mention it, sir." replied Lora, waving her hand nonchalantly. "It was an honor to defend an innocent. I only told the truth."

"I hope they face the punishment they deserve." said Roger with an angry face. "Those monsters belong behind the bars."

"But we should all be careful now."

They all turned to John who spoke suddenly.

"This hearing went better than I imagined to be." he continued. "Carson and his lawyers appeared so weaker than I expected."

"Give yourself some credit." commented David, putting a hand on John's shoulder. "You were great. Your evidence could not be challenged. You had a counterattack for each of their attacks. I really didn't expect you to bring Lora and Roger."

"I only did what I had to do." John gave him a weak smile. The lack of his signature lazy smile was like sending off an alarm in David and Aiden's minds.

"But as I said we all should be more careful now." He then turned to Lora and Roger. "I will ask the court to put you in a witness protection program. But it may take until tomorrow. You should be so much careful. For more protection, stay with someone tonight and don't go out at all."

"Is it that bad?" asked Roger concerned, clutching his wife's hand tighter.

David felt awful for the poor man. The thought of his wife in danger must have been so hard for him. He himself was going nuts at the thought of something happening to Sarah because of him.

"It's so unlikely." John shook his head and gave them a reassuring smile. "They won't do anything today or in the near future. They have more problems at hand to aim their revenge on you. But it's not bad to be extra careful."

"We will be." nodded Roger. "So if you excuse us, we will leave now."

The couple left a minute later after David and Aiden thanked them profusely.

"Now for us," spoke John, gaining the three remaining people's attention. "I will ask the court to put us under protection as well and will ask my father's friends to pick trustworthy police officers for this task. Although, no one can be trusted. A certain price can cause a man in need, to close his eyes for a few minutes and turn his back. So be careful gentlemen. I'm sure Shepherd and Carson will use large amounts to take things back into control."

"You should be careful as well." said Aiden concerned. "With the show you put up today you made yourself their first target."

"Let them come." smirked John and his eyes glinted mischievously. "That's one of the things I'm looking forward to."

"John, seriously. Be careful." warned David firmly, remembering the evil glint in Shepherd's eyes. "I don't want anything to happen to you."

"Don't worry about me." John waved his hand nonchalantly. "Did you get your new apartments? You should move in there quickly."
