David had sat on a chair in a room. Daisy was in his arms, sucking her bottle while looking up at him with her innocent eyes. It was the afternoon of that hell of a day and to say David was exhausted was an underestimate.
He had gone straight to a hospital to have Daisy checked. Once the doctor reassured him that Daisy was fine, he left the hospital and had gone to his personal lawyer's office where they had thrown him out without letting him see his lawyer.
But once out of his lawyer's office building was the time the hell broke loose for David. He was practically attacked by a large group of paparazzi who were shouting and throwing questions at him. Daisy had become frightened and had begun to cry hard while David had hardly managed to enter the taxi that had waited for him.
None of his other lawyers had answered him or even Aidan who had become aware of the situation by David and was on his way back home. The paparazzi had followed him everywhere he had gone. Even to the police station where he had filed a complaint. The bored-looking officer who David had given the complaint to, had told him they will call him once they had any news. But deep in his heart, David knew that news would never come.
After that David, helpless and defeated, knowing he wouldn't be able to do anything more especially with Daisy with him, had asked the taxi driver to take him to one of his friend's laboratories. David himself was the one who had invested in building the lab. As much as he wanted to not believe Catherine's last words about Daisy, he still wanted to make sure that Daisy was his daughter.
So here he was, waiting for the DNA test result. He smiled faintly at the two-month-old infant in his arms and caressed her soft cheek. Her eyes had become droopy. How can she not be his daughter? She had the exact blue-gray eyes as David and her slight mop of hair on top of her little head was dark just like David.
"Don't be worried, sweetheart." he said quietly. "Dady loves you so much no matter what. You are my daughter by blood or not and I will take care of you with my life."
Just then the door of the room opened and, Carl, his friend walked in clad in lab robes while holding a piece of paper. Despite everything, David's heart began to beat faster.
"Okay, I have the results," said Carl and sat on a chair behind his desk. "She is definitely yours. Without any doubts."
David closed his eyes and sighed in relief. He kissed Daisy's forehead who was asleep now. "Thank you, Carl." he said.
"Man, what's going on?" asked Carl concerned, and took off his glasses. "The news is filled with you. The paparazzi are still waiting outside the lab doors. We had to close the blinds to keep them off."
David closed his eyes and massaged his forehead. "It's a long story, Carl." he said. "And believe me I'm not able to tell you anything. Cause I will throw up if I do."
"Okay, okay." said Carl and raised his hands in surrender. They both were silent before Carl asked again. "What do you want to do now? What's your plan?"
David looked up at Carl. "I need a place to stay tonight." he said. "Daisy had a very hard day. I can't take her anywhere anymore. Besides, that bitch had somehow drugged Daisy. She needs to rest. So I need a place to stay. I can't go to a hotel. The paparazzi will not leave me alone."
"Any of your apartments or Aidan's?" asked Carl.
David shook his head. "It was in the power of attorney that all of my properties are for Shepherd and Catherine now." he spat angrily. "Aidan has sold all of his apartments to invest in our new project. Those bastards knew well when to strike. We are now penny less. We have 10000 dollars in sum."
"I would have invited you to my house. But It's under construction. We are currently staying at my wife's parents' place for the time being." said Carl and thought for a moment before his eyes lit up and he snapped his finger. "But I know somewhere you can go where I'm sure no one will come after you."
