CHAPTER 12

Bahagyang nanlaki ang mga mata ni Mattheo nang masabi ko out of the blue ang pangalan niya. Huli na nang marealize ko ang nagawa ko and I know I couldn't take it back.

He moved swiftly in a flash to kneel before me as his hands held both my shoulders.

"How did you know me, my lady?"

I could see the shock in Mattheo's eyes. It was seriously genuine that I know he was really surprised. Hindi na rin ako magtataka, sino ba naman ang hindi masusupresa kung banggitin ko ang buong pangalan niya samantalang ngayon palang kami nagkita this lifetime?

Mattheo Jeuwelheir was one of Beatrice's suitors from the original story. During my first and second life here, I witness how Mattheo spend most of his riches being a rich trader in Asnador para ligawan si Beatrice through his luxurious gifts.

Unfortunately, he could never persuade Beatrice from these gifts. Kung kaya naman nang malaman niya na mahilig si Beatrice sa magagandang damit ay pinilit niya na makapasok sa palasyo bilang trader ng magagandang damit sa Asnador.

When Mattheo finally had the chance to enter the palace and be assigned to create the wedding dress for Beatrice on her grand wedding with king Richard, Mattheo created the most beautiful and luxurious wedding dress of all time.

Meanwhile, Mattheo out of his jealousy over the king, plotted to create a coat for him na punong-puno ng kemikal na lalapnos sa balat ng hari. However, Mattheo's plan went futile as the poisonous coat was destroyed after it was randomly played on by the king's dog.

At nang makita nilang namatay ang aso ng hari ay doon lamang nila napagtanto na pinagtangkaan ni Mattheo paslangin si king Richard. And as result of what he did, Mattheo was beheaded the next day.

It was such a gloomy fate for Mattheo's unrequited love. Kaya naman sa lifetime na ito hindi ko hahayaan na mamatay ang nilalang na ito at humantong siya sa puntong aatimin niya ang pumaslang ng iba due to love.

I needed to save him but for now, what I needed to do was to make sure he doesn't find me weird for knowing his name.

Mabilis kong nilihis ang mga mata ko palayo sa mga titig niya sa akin, "Uh, I heard it from one of your men." Rason ko.

"Those scumbags!" Ang dismayado naman na sagot niya sa sinabi ko.

It gave me sort of relief when he seemed to bought my reasoning. Ang tindi rin ng kabog ng dibdib ko ngayon pakiramdam ko kung magtatagal pa siyang nakatitig sa akin ay hindi ko na kakayanin pa at baka mahimatay na talaga ako.

I couldn't deny the fact that Mattheo bore a very handsome face. Although the two of us never had any chance of talking, nagkaroon kami ng iisang pagkakataon dati upang magkita.

And it was during the coronation of king Richard during my second life which was months before the grand wedding.

My father hired Mattheo to make my dress and it was truly a remarkable dress he brought me. He was such a charming face, unfortunately, that charming face of him was already carrying a vile intention towards the king.

"I thought you still remember me, my lady. I just had my hopes down, I guess." sambit naman ni Mattheo sa muling pagkakaupo niya.

"What do you mean by that? And why are you here? Are you the one who sent those bandits to take me?"

Sa dami ng katanungan ko ay agad na itinaas ni Mattheo ang kanang palad niya upang pahintuin na ako. "Easy now, my lady. I will gladly answer all of it." bigla naman ngiti sa akin ni Mattheo.

"Answer my question then." I firmly told him.

"Which one of those questions, my lady?" malumanay namang tugon ni Mattheo.

Napaisip akong bigla alin sa mga tanong ko nga ba ang gusto kong una niyang sagutin. I took me a little while before I could finally decide to ask, "Are you the one who sent those bandits to take me?"

Sa di ko maipaliwanag na dahilan para bang kay hirap magalit sa isang ito. Napaka angelic kasi ng mukha ni Mattheo, para talagang hindi mo aakalain na kaya niya gumawa ng kasalanan.

Pero gaya nga nila, 'never judge a book by its cover'.

Hindi man siya mukhang masama ay hindi na rin possible na gumawa nga siya ng krimen. If in my second life, he was able to make out a plan to assasinate the king that led to Mattheo's own death, what more in this lifetime?

But the thing was that wala pa rin si Beatrice. I didn't know yet whether nagkita na itong si Mattheo and Beatrice. It doesn't seem like they did dahil kung nagkita na sila then what the heck was he doing here trying to abduct me using these bandits?

My confusion was only answered the moment Mattheo rested his back on the other side of the carriage and that when the carriage began to move. "Yes, I thought I saw you at the brothel and had to confirm it myself. It looks like my men were right. It is indeed you."

"Why would you do that?" tanong ko out of the confusion that was triggering my headache.

Nagtataka ako dahil hindi pa kami nagkakakilala supposedly ni Mattheo in this lifetime, and yet, the way he talked to me now sounded as though he already knew me for so long. This left me bewildered bakit ganito ang biglang pananalita sa aking ni Mattheo.

Not to mention that he even seemed to hire those bandits para lang tangayin ako. It left me questioning myself, ano kaya ang pakay sa akin ni Mattheo why he did this?

Kalaban ba siya ng aking ama, kung kaya ay kinuha niya ako ngayon upang makaganti? I don't seem to have heard anything about him from my father and in all fairness, the duke of Sainan was a reputable noble man.

Even in my previous lives here, my father had never exploit his power power para makatapak ng ibang tao. Not until this lifetime where he had to choose to wed me off out of political agenda para sa pag-aalsa nila laban kay king Richard, which I would appreciate knowing gusto pala akong pakalasan ng hari.

Samantala, bigla na lamang akong nabalik sa realidad nang muling sumagot si Mattheo and his answer brought me in a state of having no words to say when Mattheo confidently told me, "I had no ulterior motives but just to have you, Lady Giezelle." He even knew who I was and then, Mattheo added, "For someone who has been falling for your charm from afar, you had no idea how I have dreamed of this moment, my lady."

Ibig sabihin ba nito, matagal na rin may gusto si Mattheo sa akin this lifetime? And here I am, wala nanaman kaalam-alam.
