"Macarons. Matter of fact, if you wait a little, I'll give you macarons that I made myself." Jake winked, and the cheeks of the two just flushed a hint of pink.
One of them looked back at me, a smile that wouldn't drop on her face.
"A set of macarons, that'll be all." She gave a grin as I totalled up her order, and proceeded to give her a receipt.
They walked over to a seat, glancing behind them at Jake very frequently. I looked over at Jake, who just stared at me, smugly.
"You flirting with customers now?" I raised a brow, crossing my arms with a faint smile.
"Is it illegal? Or do you just not like it?" He found himself to be some kind of Mr. Funny all over here, I just rolled my eyes at his comment.
".. Well.. I guess it's not illegal." I muttered to myself, cause technically it wasn't.
We waited a little longer, macarons didn't take too long in the oven, so the oven was pretty quick to ding.
He eagerly opened the oven door first, a sweet aroma of vanilla waft out of the oven, fulfilling the entire bakery with it's overpowering scent.
They weren't burnt, they were honestly, perfect. The shape, the colour, the scent, it was all exactly perfect.
He spared no time, already ready to pipe the macarons with the blueberry filling. The man got to work immediately, and honestly, I couldn't complain, he worked fast, assembling macaron after macaron.
And just like that, he delivered the first set of his macarons to his first customers, though, they seemed to be feasting their eyes more on him, than the macarons themselves.
Yoonsik was clearly unhappy with Jake, I didn't quite understand his problem, because it wasn't like he was doing anything so bad.
The second Jake got back behind the counter, he began assembling another macaron, and approached me with a white macaron, a drawing of a cat face made with icing pen on top of it.
He handed me the macaron in a cupcake cup, and I just looked at it, a priceless smile written all over his face. He truly was the purest man ever, I could never frown when I was near him.
"You want one Yoonsik?" Jake asked, taking a bite of one himself, he nodded his head in approval of his baking.
"No. I'm okay." Yoonsik's harsh words could almost kill the vibe that Jake was radiating, but thankfully, he didn't.
"Alright." He shrugged, looking over at me as I took a bite, "And? What'd we say?"
I wasn't even going to lie to his face, they were good. They weren't too sweet, the flavouring wasn't obnoxiously strong, and of course, it resembled a macaron.
"I love them." I chuckled as Jake gave the largest smile worldwide.
For the next hour of my shift, Jake's face in the bakery - and arguably his baking - attracted waaay more customers than usual, most of which were female.
I wasn't surprised this was happening, like come on, it was Jake.
But one thing that did surprise me, was the arrival of Yeju in the bakery. I thought it was another random customer, but as I looked up, I was clearly taken aback.
She didn't seem happy too, maybe her and Yoonsik should go and brood over this together somewhere in the bakery.
"Jake?" She looked over to Jake who was pretty much smiling, giggling over his macarons that he was organising in boxes to go.
He spun around, holding a box of three macarons, and made his way to the front of the counter, beside me.
"What's up Yeju?"
"What are you.. doing here.. with..." Yeju glanced over at me, and she didn't even say my name. That was kind of rude.
"Ji-eun." Jake finished her sentence for her, and I kid you not, I pressed my lips together to try and suppress my smile, but it literally wouldn't work, so I had to pretend as if I had to cough and cover my mouth with my hand.
"Yeah.. Ji-eun.." Yeju threw another quick glare at me, looking back up at Jake.
"Wanted her to teach me how to make macarons, so." He opened the box, "Try one."
She reluctantly took one, biting into it, and you could tell she enjoyed it, but solely over the fact that I was mentioned, and how I was here, she just gave a shrug and an expressionless reaction.
"Cool, is Heeseung not here then?" She inquired, which was an odd question, because why on earth would Heeseung be here?
"No? Why'd he be here?" Jake asked what I was wondering too, and she looked around the bakery just for a moment.
"Just wondering."
