THE NEXT MORNING

Never in my life would I ever think that the liquor in my cabinets would actually have a purpose, up until now.

Banging on my door was repeatedly heard, and it left me with no option to get my ass up, I didn't even know what time it was or what was really going on.

I raised my head slowly, my back ached, and my neck even more.

I was sat on a stool, body bent over on the countertop of my kitchen island, I glanced over to Jake, who was in the exact same position, just beside me.

Two empty bottles of liquor, one half empty, and two glass cups were situated on the island with us.

Jake was still asleep, his head facing me while buried partially in his arms. I just stared at his face, peacefully at rest.

"JI-EEUUUN, ARE YOU AWAKE YET?" Heeseung voice yelled through my door with a few knocks right afterwards.

Despite my haziness and fatigue that I currently felt, after all, I hadn't drank heavily in so long, my body seemed to quickly adapt to the urgent situation.

I didn't need to shake Jake awake, he simply woke up himself over the loud commotion Heeseung was causing outside.

"Ah fuck, he's here?" Jake chuckled, his voice raspy and low. He gave a yawn, standing up and staring at me as I just looked at him back, with panic written all over my face.

"Go up to my room, just stay there." I hurriedly urged him, and he just gave a light smile, resting his hand on the nape of his neck and proceeding to head upstairs.

"JI-EUN!! I WANT TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT SOMETHING!!" Heeseung continued whining outside of my door, and finally, after making sure Jake was out of sight, I opened the door.

"You are so annoying." I groaned, staring at him with such a displeased look on my face.

He walked in without even letting me say he could come in, and head straight to the kitchen to pour himself a glass of water.

Heeseung looked over to my counter, where the empty bottles, and two glasses were.

"You had someone over?" He raised a brow, a cheeky smile appearing all of a sudden.

I kind of just, froze in that moment, not really sure whether he knew it was his best friend or what, but either way, I made sure to watch my words carefully.

".. Well, yeah.." I swallowed hard, biting my inner lip gently as I cursed myself for being this obvious.

"That's a first, who? Was it a guy?" Heeseung jeered, seeming oddly excited over the fact that it could have been a guy.

"Don't you hate it when I even speak to a guy? Why are you getting all excited.." I looked at him suspiciously, did this guy really know Jake was over right now, or what?

"Well, I thought you could do with a boyfriend or something, as long as it's not Jake." Heeseung chuckled, looking around my kitchen as I just clenched my jaw together.

Well isn't that funny.

I wasn't exactly sure what to say, but clearly I didn't need to, since Heeseung was so eager to know who I invited over.

"So? Is he nice? Who even is he?" He immediately assumed it was a guy, and just to save my own ass, I lied about pretty much everything.

"Calm yourself, it's not a guy, just one of my old friends from school. Bumped into her at the store and I invited her over to talk." I told him, sounding pretty convincing if I say so myself.

Heeseung rolled his eyes, I was honestly astonished to see him look this disappointed.

"You going to work then?" He abruptly switched the topic, and I checked my phone for the time for the first time, immediate panic ran through my veins.

"Shit, I'm going to be late." I gasped lightly, rushing Heeseung out of my house, though he kind of willingly left after seeing how I was on a time crunch.

I ran upstairs, pushing the door into my room and just seeing Jake sat on my chair, swinging around while being on his phone.

Upon seeing my dramatic entry, he turned to look at me, a little confused.

"I'm gonna be late for work, you gotta go, or get out of this room, or something at least." I grabbed my uniform from my closet, and by the time I came back into my room, he was gone.

Without even a single second spared, I changed. I changed so quickly that it even surprised me.

I didn't have much time to apply the makeup routine I usually did, or make my hair look as nice as it usually does for work, so a simple hair-down, soft makeup look had to do it for today.

It was one of the days that didn't attract many customers, so, I'm sure I'll be fine like this.

I ran downstairs after, a little surprised to see Jake still here. He had his keys in his hands, jacket on, and presumably waiting for me.

He clearly could read my perplexed expression upon seeing him waiting for me.

"You said you'd teach me to make the macarons, did you not?" A smirk tinged the edges of his lips, and I just gave a light chuckle at how he even managed to remember that after all we drank.
