→ A DAY LATER
This time, I wasn't late to my shift. It was nearing the end of my shift, about the time where customers stopped really coming in, so, it was a pretty quiet shift.
In regards to Yoonsik, the two of us did not mention previous events at all. There wasn't a word more, nothing about the confession was said.
Sure, I felt awkward, and Yoonsik tried his best to try and make jokes and ease up the mood, but to be honest, I was not feeling it ever since he confessed to me.
"You busy tomorrow?" He asked, walking beside me and waiting for my reply.
"Uhhh, not that I know of, why?" I turned to look at him, swallowing hard as he just gave a smile.
"I was thinking, we could actually go out tomorrow, as in, just do something together." Yoonsik offered, and internally, I wasn't quite feeling it, especially with this awkward atmosphere between the two of us.
I sucked my teeth, looking over at him and giving a nervous chuckle.
"Mmm, do you have anything exactly in mind?" I probably should've just said I was busy tomorrow, I didn't want to turn him down, but I didn't necessarily want to go either.
"Not right now, but there's a lot to do in the centre, so I reckon we'll be busy for the whole day." He had a pure smile on his face, not getting the hint at all, "So what'd you say?"
There was a brief moment of silence, and I prayed for someone to just come in and divert the topic, and thankfully, I struck gold this time.
The door swung open, revealing Heeseung, and upon seeing his entry, Yoonsik fixed his posture, standing up tall and straight - and also a bit further away from me.
But judging by the way Heeseung walked in, not even, how he stormed in, and how his face was cold and rigid, I already knew it meant no good.
He slammed his hands on the counters, looking at me intently.
"You and Jake are together? After I told you, warned you numerous times, I don't want you with him." Heeseung bitterly spat, and I just pressed my lips together.
Well, in a sense, together isn't the exact word.
"Together? We aren't together?" I furrowed my brows, wondering what this guy's problem was now.
"Yeah right, Yeju told me everything, at the party yesterday, the bakery, how you two are always around each other." Heeseung was clearly angered, "Do you even fucking listen?"
I was not about to let my own brother release his anger out on me.
"What the fuck is your problem when it comes to who I date? Do you want him for yourself or something?" I scoffed, this guy was genuinely unbelievable.
Heeseung clenched his jaw, just staring at me, he was purely mad, there was no other way to put it. He crossed his arms, his eyes sharpening and glaring at me.
"My problem is that Jake isn't the guy for you Ji-eun. You say it yourself, you don't like guys who go against the law, you hate guys who ride motorcycles. You suit people like.. him." Heeseung pointed to Yoonsik, he didn't even remember his name, just pointed at him.
I couldn't even believe what I was hearing from my own brother, this guy wasn't going to let me get with his best friend solely because I said a few words a good while ago?
"Things change Heeseung, I'm an adult. A grown ass woman, and you're dictating who I can date? Are you really that bored with yourself?" I took my apron off, throwing it to the side in a fit of frustration.
"I don't give a fuck if you're an adult or whatever, you're my little sister, and I don't want you around Jake. End of." Heeseung had nothing but the audacity in this moment, and I just stared at him, speechless.
"You know what Heeseung, I think you really need to get a reality check. I'm your sister, not some random girl you can control." I replied, really astonished my own brother would go to these lengths.
"You need to get a reality check, and back the fuck away from Jake, Ji-eun. I don't want to catch you anywhere near him again." Heeseung still was annoyed, judging by his furrowed brows, "You understand?"
And I had enough of his shit, walking out from behind the counter and past him, storming by and about to leave.
"Shame to call you my brother." I shook my head, giving a disappointed sigh before I opened the door and left, walking off.
I didn't exactly know where I was heading at first, but I quickly organised my thoughts, making my way home to pack a few things and leave this area for a small break.
