In the village, New had just returned from the hospital. His mom said, "Son, the doctor said don't work too hard and that it's bad for your health to stay up at night. It can affect both you and the baby." New nodded. His mom continued, "Come here, son. Have some food and then take your medicine." New nodded again, went to the table, sat on a chair, ate some food, and then got up to go to his room.

A few hours later, his mom entered his room and sat on the bed, gently saying, "New, are you craving any food?" New just sighed. His mom tried again, "In these months, people who are pregnant usually crave something."

New didn't say anything. His mom continued to try to start a conversation, "You haven't talked much lately. What's wrong, son?" New closed his eyes without saying a thing.

His mom sighed and said, "Son, sometimes during pregnancy, you may have mood swings. You might feel like you don't like anything or want to go away from everything. There may be times when you think it's not good to have a baby alone."

New listened to his mom and, after some time later,New said, "Mom, I don't feel like talking. Can we talk later?"

His mom nodded, "Yes, of course, son. We'll talk later. Just take some rest and tell me if you need anything." New just nodded. His mom left the room.

New lay there, thinking, "Baby, I know your dad will never know you exist. I don't even know him, but why do I feel like if I meet him and tell him that I have his baby, what would he do? No, no, what am I thinking? Why do I think like that? I feel mad. Oh, why is my life so complicated? I really don't know what to do now. Can I go away from here too? Oh, I don't know what to do."

New was indeed experiencing mood swings, but he didn't fully understand them. Suddenly, he felt a kick in his belly and shouted, "Mom! Something happened to my belly!" His mom came to him and asked, "What happened, son?"

New said, "Why do I feel a kick in my belly?" His mom smiled and said, "Really? Let me see." New asked, "Why are you smiling like that?" His mom replied, "The baby is kicking in your belly, son." New touched his belly and said, "Really? He's big enough to kick?" His mom said, "Yes, he's big enough to kick. His kicks will get stronger in the 8th and 9th months. During that time, you'll barely sleep. When I had you, I almost couldn't sleep at night."

New asked, "Did I kick you that much?"

His mom smiled, "Yes, but your dad also stayed up with me the whole night."

"Did Dad also stay with you?" New asked.

"Yes, he did," his mom replied. "But don't worry, son. You have me. I will stay with you the whole night during that time."

New just nodded. His mom knew she couldn't fill the gap that a pregnant person often feels without their partner. Even though New was gay, he might still need his partner by his side, and that gap was something his mom couldn't fill. Each passing day, New felt weaker. He now couldn't do much on his own. The cramps and baby kicks were driving him crazy. He sat on his bed and talked to his belly, "Baby, I don't know your daddy, but I think he's the worst person in the world. Why did he make me pregnant in the first place? I know I was drunk and did something stupid, but couldn't he have used a condom so I wouldn't have to face this?"

Just then, he felt a big kick in his belly. "Ouch!" he shouted, rubbing his belly. "Why did you kick me so hard? I didn't say anything to you. I said your daddy is a bad person." Another kick followed. "Oh, baby, I'm happy to have you. Don't be angry. I just don't like your dad," New said, and this time, the kick was gentle.

New thought to himself, "Can babies communicate from inside? I have to ask Uncle." Suddenly, he had a craving for dragon fruit. "Why do I feel like eating dragon fruit? I don't even like that fruit," he said to himself. "Whatever, I won't eat that fruit. It's not good to eat."
