" Mom, I'm going out to Dean's! I'll see you for dinner!" Madisyn called out, making her way to the door. Melissa shouted some mumbled words to her daughter. Madisyn opened the door and saw an envelope with her name on it. " Weird.." She mumbled, grabbing it and ripping it open. Madisyn read the letter out loud and her eyes widened.
" That's great, Madisyn!" Melissa shouted from the kitchen, thinking her daughter was reading the letter to her. Madisyn laughed and walked over to Dean and his Dad's apartment before knocking on the door. She walked in right as Harry went to open the door.
" Come on in." Harry mumbled under his breath, rolling his eyes and walking back to his chair. Madisyn waved Harry off and walked to Dean's room. She opened the door and started reading the letter out loud, not noticing a half dressed Dean standing there.
" Dear Miss McKinning, we, Eden Hall Academy, would like to send you this scholarship for your hockey and academic skills. We saw you playing at the Goodwill Games and would love it if you and your fellow Ducks would join us here at Eden Hall Prep to play for our JV hockey team. This is a full ride scholarship. Dorms, transportation and food will be covered. We hope to see you this September. Signed, Dean Buckley." Madisyn read with an excited look on her face. She looked up seeing Dean in only sweatpants and rolled her eyes.
" Put some clothes on please." She laughed. "Dean, this is sick! We'll all be together. In the same school, and on the same hockey team again!"
" Yeah but we're going to school with a bunch of preppies, Mad Dog. We hate preppies. Remember?" Dean reminded her, putting on a shirt. Madisyn tossed her letter on his drawer, seeing the exact same one with Dean's name on it already sitting on top of a Sports Illustrated magazine. She sighed and sat on his bed.
" No, you hate preppies. I just agree with you." The girl corrected, looking over at him with a lazy grin. " And can we, oh, I don't know, not think about this negatively?" Madisyn asked him sarcastically with a small head tilt. Dean turned around from the mirror on his wall and glared at her. He jumped on his bed and laid down.
" I don't know, Mads. I just don't think this is a super good idea. I mean Eden Hall. How rich does that sound?" Dean taunted the school name and laughed. Madisyn rolled her eyes, turning around on the bed, now facing him.
" Fulton will be going. So will Ken and everyone else probably." Madisyn poked, in hopes he'd get a good mindset on the school. Dean shook his head and threw up a football he had on his bed. He caught it and looked at her.
" I'll think about it. But don't get all hopeful and go telling my dad I'll go. Actually, don't tell him at all." Dean said. Madisyn nodded and grabbed her letter from the drawer.
