Shameless, Reckless Love (GirlxGirl)

Part 1: Chapter 1

Eden sits on her bed, listening to music on her MP3 player. She constantly finds herself lost in thought. But, what kid wouldn't right after their mother just expressed their genuine hatred for their kid?

Yup. That was Faye. The mother of every Gallagher in the house. She's an alcoholic single mother, but isn't around enough to even be a mom to her 6 kids. If she's not passed out on a street, or bitchin' at people in her house, she's stumbling out of bar, after bar, after bar – only when she's got the money.

There's a knock at the bedroom door, and Fabian steps inside.

"Hey, kiddo." He says, softly. Eden looks toward him, and takes her earbuds out. "Mac and cheese downstairs."

"Thanks. I'll be right down." Eden answers him. Fabian leaves after giving his sister a look of pity.

Fabian: the father (and mother) his siblings never had. At age 21, he raises all of his siblings, making sure they're fed, in school, and that all they're other needs are taken care of. It is clear that his main issue is relationships considering the fact that he is with a new girl every week. Women call him "reckless", but to his family, he's just human.

Eden finally makes herself step out of bed, and starts walking out the bedroom that she shares with Lib and Cora. As Eden walks in the hall, to her left Leona is dipping a toothbrush into the toilet bowl. Before Eden can react, Declan speeds into the bathroom, almost knocking her over.

"Leona, no!" Declan says, taking Leona's hand out of the toilet.

Declan has to be the most gathered sibling in the Gallagher household. He avoids trouble, helps pay the bills for the family, and is overall very mature for a 10 year old. Declan then begins sniffing the air.

"Wait, is that mac and cheese?" he asks Eden.

"Um, yup." Eden answers.

"Oh, bye!" Declan says, running toward the staircase. Eden makes a confused expression, and goes to grab the toothbrush that Leona almost puts into her mouth.

"You could've taken the toothbrush out of the toilet!" Eden shouts.

"It was Cora's anyways!" Declan shouts from downstairs. Eden then rinses the toothbrush in hot water, grabs Leona, and heads downstairs. In the kitchen, Cora sits stabbing her food with her finger, Lib eats without a fork, and Fabian angrily goes through the mail at the counter. Declan goes to join everyone with Eden following behind him.

"What's mine?" Cora asks Declan as he sits down beside her.

"Leona was putting your toothbrush in the toilet." Declan replies, drooling over his food.

"What?" Cora asks loudly.

"Lib, you have mail from some college." Fabian says. Lib gets up and washes her hands at the kitchen sink.

"Which one?" Lib asks looking at the mail.

"Northeastern." Fabian answers. "I didn't know you were already looking into colleges."

"Wasn't." Lib replies, ripping open the letter. "Oh, sick! It's a party invite!"

"What?" Fabian asks, snatching the letter. "Who's Jeff?"

"One of her boyfriends." Cora butts in.

"You've been talking to some frat dudes?" Fabian asks Lib.

"Here we go." Lib says exhaustedly and searches the fridge.

"I'm not allowing you to go to this. And don't think we're not gonna talk about the boys you've had around here." Fabian adds upsettingly.

"I'm 17. I think I'm old enough to have a boyfriend." Lib says, annoyed.

"Boyfriends." Cora corrects.

"Shut the hell up." Lib demands.

"You're not goin'." Fabian says.

"Whatever. He was too thirsty anyways." Lib argues.

Every day after school, Eden goes to her job: the Kesh & Grab, a small marketplace. The co-owner is a woman named, Kesh. Kesh is a sweet hearted young woman, but is, without a doubt, a wimp in any situation. Eden is kind to her nonetheless. As Eden walks in the store, Kesh waits behind the counter, insinuating that business is slow.

"Hey." Kesh says, lifting up her head.

"Hey." Eden replies back.

"Logan's bustin' my balls about some redhead kids trying to steal some pop rocks." Kesh tells Eden.

"Yeah, the kids around here jack off for them." Eden says, chuckling and leans on the counter facing opposite of Kesh.

"He even asked if one of them might be you." Kesh laughed.

"Theft? Nah. I'm not down for that." Eden answers. Kesh smiles.

"Mm. What would you go down for then?" Kesh asks, stroking Eden's hand. Eden smirks up at Kesh, who gives her excited eyes. Afterwards, Kesh goes to lock the store door and follows Eden to the back.

Eden is the only closeted gay in her family. For about 3 months, she and Kesh would partake in sexual affairs, despite the fact that Kesh was married... to a man. Though Eden is fairly good at hiding who she is, she normally feels unsure if her preference should be a secret at all.
