Part 2: Chapter 11

Eden's alarm clock rings for the third time, and she slams her fist on the off button once again.

First day of school, and she couldn't help but to feel like absolute shit.

After ferociously rubbing her eyes, Eden groggily climbs out of her bed and notices that Cora was out of bed already and Lib was under the covers, in the same position as last night. Eden didn't get a chance to ask what was wrong with Lib since she was caught up in the dumb ass drama of last night, but Lib was gradually getting Eden worried like everyone else.

Eden goes to the bathroom to do her usual morning routine, and then goes back to the bedroom to scavenge her drawers for clothes. As she begins putting her clothes on, Fabian barges into the room. His eyes were fiery and the hair on his head was in spikes. It didn't take a genius to notice Fabian's rage, but Eden honestly felt that it was way too early in the morning for his heated ranting.

"Fabe, what the hell!" Eden exclaims.

 Fabian ignores Eden, and goes over to Lib's top bunk bed to swing Lib's sheets right off her. Lib immediately reacts by looking back at Fabian, annoyed. She just continues to glare at him and tries to grab the covers back, but Fabian begins balling them up, and then tosses the sheets to the floor. Lib sighs, hopelessly, and sinks back into her bed.

"What's this about you not going to school?" Fabian angrily asks. Eden shoots her head up to look at Lib. So Fabian's fear is becoming a reality, Eden thinks to herself. Lib begins rubbing her hands over her exhausted face.

"I guess someone let the cat out the bag." Lib replies like it's no big deal.

"Yeah, thank Cora." Fabian says, clearly stressed. "Alright, enough of this, get up!" Fabian says, pulling on Lib's arm. Lib pulls her arm away from him. "You're gonna be late, goddamnit!"

Lib mumbles something that sounds like, "That's the point".

"Lib!" Fabian says, continuing to shake her. "Lib!"

"What's the big deal?" Lib asks, aggravated.

"Are you serious?" Fabian asks her back. "C'mon, get up! You know I've got plenty enough to worry about?"

"Like what? What's the problem?" Lib selfishly asks, and it even surprises Eden.

"You want a damn list? There's my job, the house, Leona, Declan, Eden, Cora... You!" Fabian replies, stating the obvious. Lib then scoffs lightly.

"Hey, don't do me any favors." Lib tells him. Fabian throws his hands up in the air desperately. After taking a few breaths, he leans his head toward Lib a bit more.

"Okay. Why are you doin' this, Lib? Huh?" Fabian whispers affectionately. "What's goin' on?"

"Nothing." Lib answers, looking up at the cracks of their ceiling. "I'm done with school because I'm not gonna be able to get into any kind of college anyway, so I don't see the point. But I am fine, so don't worry your pretty little head about anything." Lib says, turning on her side so that Fabian is now staring at her back.

"Who said you weren't going to college?" Fabian asks with sincere empathy in his tone.

"Only every adult I've come across... What do you think?" Lib asks in anger. "I mean seriously. Look at us! Look at where we are!" Fabian backs away finally. He stares at Lib for what seems like an hour, and then leaves the bedroom. By that time, Eden already has her clothes on and backpack ready. She rises off of her bed and starts walking toward the door.

"Hey." Lib then says, and Eden stops by the door.

"Hey." Eden replies. Lib maneuvers her body so that she is looking at Eden now.

"Would you be upset if I left?" Lib openly asks.

"For how long would you be gone?" Eden asks back.

"I don't know." Lib says, looking down. "Would you tell?"

"Of course not." Eden assures.

"I just need to be somewhere else so I can sort things out."

Eden stares at the ground for a while as well.

"Al-right." Eden says, dragging the word.

She clutches onto the doorknob, knowing that if she goes out that door, she won't be able to see Lib leave. She turns back to look at Lib for a moment. Lib waves her two fingers at Eden, something they did when they were real young. Eden smiles and waves her fingers back.
