People may think it would be cool, as a kid, to cuss around the house, or to have a party with too many drinks that you wake up with a hangover for your 14th birthday, or to have parents that don't give a damn about where you go on a school night... better yet, imagine that they didn't care if you even went to school to begin with.

For the kids in the Milkovich household, it's not necessarily "cool" for anyone. It's more of just a played-out nightmare. In that house there are 6 (occasionally) disrespectful kids with two drunken, low-life parents... I mean, who'd expect life over there to be Jim Dandy?

6:15 AM on a Monday.

The fifth oldest kid, Mitchell, is already up and dressed for school. It's safe to say that Mitchell is the only Milkovich who is responsible when it comes to taking care of himself. He is in the 10th grade, and still does a lot better than his parents ever did. Even though he truly cannot stand his family sometimes, Mitchell can't deny his huge heart. So after getting ready, Mitchell tiptoes toward the kitchen that's past the living room to start making everyone their breakfast.

He steps around the floor with caution as he stares at his passed-out parents snoring on the couch again. Mitchell and his siblings, though they'd never say it, are pretty much always scared around their parents. Their parents can seem like genuinely chill folks, but the nervous thing about them is that you never know when that "niceness" will change into viciousness. With a controlling, psychotic mother and an always-angry-stoned father, the kids in the Milkovich home never for a second forget to watch their damn backs.

As Mitchell makes his way to the kitchen as quietly as he can, he goes to wash a pan, but it slips in the sink due to his wet hands. Mitchell looks startled as he turns to see that his mother was the first to jolt up.

"Dammit." Mitchell says under his breath. Now he had to deal with his mother's early morning bullshit. His father then sits up beside his mom afterwards.

"What the fuck? Can you stop with all that goddamn banging?" Mitchell's mom yells. When she's hammered as hell, a pin drop could be too much noise for her. "There's too many of you damned kids in my house! Can't even sleep through the morning."

"Ma, would you shut the hell up?" Mitchell yells over the faucet water. "Look, I'm makin' you all breakfast, so stop being such a dick!" His mother raises her hands in surrender.

"Alright, alright." She says to him, and Mitchell goes back to getting things ready for breakfast. If she wasn't so drunk and tired, she probably would've jumped Mitchell's ass.

Terri is the Milkovich kids' mother. No one knew what she did for a job, but what they did know was that her job never consisted of being a good parent. Terri couldn't help but to always demand a drink in one hand, and something illegal to smoke in the other. She doesn't seem to give a rat's ass about her kids' needs, and if there ever was a problem, no one would dare approach her on the issue. She was just about the toughest, roughest woman in the neighborhood and not many people risked to cross her. Not even her husband. Not only does Terri treat her kids like complete shit, but she does the same to her dimwit of a husband, Stan.

During the nights where everyone wonders where she goes, Terri sometimes sleeps with other men. Stan knows all about this, but the bastard is so lost in life, that he can't wake up and finally leave Terri. Besides, he follows whatever is rising in his pants, rather than what his head tells him to do anyway.

Moments later, the fourth oldest sister steps out her room, rubbing her tired eyes.

"Okay, seriously, is there no such thing as a quiet fuckin' morning in this goddamn house?" the sister, Ricki, asks.
