Corlys Velaryon, known as the Sea Snake, was a fabled Lord of the Tides, Master of Driftmark, and head of House Velaryon. In his younger years, he made nine great voyages on Sea Snake, a ship he designed and built himself. By the age of seven-and-thirty, Corlys was hailed as the greatest seafarer the former Seven Kingdoms had ever known. He is a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. But now a widow. By this year, Lord Corlys is a man of eight-and-seven years of age, and he knows that his days are numbered. Since the death of his wife, Princess Rhaenys. The Sea Snake has rarely been seen in the Red Keep. Not attending council meetings. He spends his time overseeing the build of new ships in the harbor. Sleeping on his ship Sea Snake and going to taverns for meals. Ahsoka knew the death of Rhaenys took a strong toll on her grandfather more than anyone. While she did worry for her father, who currently fought the Greens alongside Joffery. She more thought about Corlys.
Currently, the Lord of Driftmark is sitting on a crate on the docks overlooking Blackwater Bay. Watching Nymphora, Rhaenas blue dragon, look for food in the water. Rhaena and Rhaenys both gone in such a short amount of time, and he was powerless to stop them both. An old man who can not fight as he used to. The man is lucky he doesn't have to still use his cane to move. A part of him blames himself for the death of his wife and granddaughter. For there was a time when all he wanted was his blood on the Iron Throne. House Velaryon to be the seat of power in Westeros. After Corlys healed from Racallio Ryndoons stab to the gut, he immediately returned to his family's side in Kingslanding.
Memory
The day Elaena left for Winterfell Corlys and Rhaenys went for a walk in the gardens and came across their granddaughter newly crowned Queen Ahsoka standing on a balcony watching her children play on the grass below her. Dressed is garments fit for a Queen and her Valyrian Steele Crown sitting upon her head. Twisting the rings on her hands in anxiety. The grandparents exchange a look before walking up to Ahsoka. "Your Grace." Corlys says as he smiles with pride. Rhaenys giving her the loving gaze of a grandmother. Ahsoka turns her head and gives a small smile to her grandparents.
Ahsoka: *sigh* Hello. *looks back to children*
Rhaenys: *looks to children* Are you alright, my dear?
Ahsoka: I am alright. *swallows*
Corlys: *deep breath* Where's Aemond?
Ahsoka: He and Alicent are reinforcing the cities defenses.
Corlys: *nods* Hm. Lad has a good mind to assist your rule granddaughter.
Ahsoka: I know he will. *shakes head* I still can not believe it.
Rhaenys: You deserve it.
Ahsoka: *looks to Rhaenys* You should be Queen.
Rhaenys: I am too old.
Ahsoka: If you would've been crowned after King Jaehaerys, then *interrupted*
Rhaenys: You'd be in the exact same spot. If I were Queen. Laenor would be my heir since he was born first. And you would be his heir once he was crowned. You were always meant to wear the crown, my dear.
Ahsoka: But my children are in more danger now more than ever!
Nurse maid: Your Grace.
