Parker knew that Rick was probably right... even if she didn't entirely agree with him. Alexandria and its inhabitants had been the lucky ones during the entirety of the outbreak. They hadn't had to face what was out there. They didn't know how to defend themselves because they never needed to. They lived in a bubble of ignorance, and as Parker lay awake that night thinking about it, she realized that maybe Rick was right. However, that didn't stop her from connecting the dots. Rick was starting to lose focus, which was making him just as much of a risk as the people here. Maybe a lot more. Parker was painfully reminded of what happened to Shane when he followed the same path. He was willing to do whatever it took to keep Lori and Carl alive, which is how Rick was acting now with this group. Parker was afraid to see him go down that road and act the way he was because she knew that if he tried anything... it wouldn't end well.
The next morning, Rick and Daryl went out with Carol. Parker visited Deanna with Maggie, after being invited to discuss their roles. Although Parker was considered the substitute teacher. When her baby was born she would take on the role full-time, but until then, Deanna wanted her and Maggie to be her advisors. They sat at Deanna's table, where she told Parker that she wanted to work with her because of her ability to read people and situations. Parker was more than happy to do it because if there was a way to diffuse Rick's concerns without causing conflict, she would take that job any day. When Rick and Michonne joined them, dressed in their police uniforms, Parker couldn't help but laugh at how uncomfortable Michonne looked.
"You look great." She remarked, glancing back at Michonne and her brother.
"Shut up," Michonne scowled, before looking at Deanna. "So what exactly are we going to do? What are meant to do as the 'constables'?"
"You protect and serve," Deanna answered her. "You patrol, walk the walls, watch out for the kids. If there's a conflict, you solve it. And people will listen to you."
"They're just supposed to listen to them because they get fancy uniforms?" Parker squinted, turning back to look at the police uniforms the two wore.
"Because we're wearing windbreakers?" Michonne wasn't convinced either from the sounds of it.
"Why do they wear uniforms?" Maggie scrunched up her face at the brown uniforms they wore.
"Because they believe in this," Deanna replied. "Because I'm telling them to. A police officer used to live here." She pointed to a house outside the window. "So we had these jackets and I wanted to make it official. So it's official. There's going to be a government here one day. That's why I want Maggie and Parker working with me. There's going to be a police force. That's why I want you two to start it. I see a vibrant community here, with industry, commerce, civilization. Real lives." She noticed Rick looking out the window during her small speech. "It might be horses and mills, but- what? Does that sound like pie in the sky?"
"No," Maggie responded.
"No," Michonne seconded from where she stood.
"Well, it sounds a whole lot better than what's out there," Parker added.
"No. Can we talk security?"
"Oh boy," Parker sighed, looking up at Rick who motioned for all of them to come with him. Rick led them all towards the walls, passing the solar panels that provided their electricity. Parker walked next to Maggie. Daryl had yet to return after their little outing they did that morning, choosing to stay out longer and hunt. Carl was out with the other neighborhood kids, and everyone else was doing their jobs. So Parker didn't have much else to do but be where she was right now. "We need constant patrol along the walls," Rick explained to her. "Not just looking for damage, but signs that anyone climbed in from the outside. You can move right up the supports. That's what I'd do. People are the real threat now."
