Almost a month after the battle of Alexandria, the town had still not fully recovered. Daryl remained in Alexandria for a while after everything, still nervous about his encounter with the Saviors. Of course, they had killed them before they had a chance to do the same to them, but Daryl was still worried. Parker was becoming increasingly agitated about being pregnant, especially because she thought she was gaining too much weight. When they woke up that morning, she stood in front of the mirror in her underwear, turning her body to look at herself from different angles. Daryl eyed her as he came out of the bathroom.
"What the hell are you doin'?"
"I'm getting fat," Parker deadpanned.
"You ain't gettin' fat," Daryl told her, walking over.
"I am," Parker replied. "I'm in that fucking stage where you can't tell if I'm pregnant or if I just gained fifty pounds.."
"Well, you look great," Daryl assured her, coming up behind Parker. He slid his arms around her waist, resting them on her stomach. "You always look great." Parker smiled, leaning her head back to look at him.
"You're too good to me."
"Same goes for you," Daryl responded, pressing a soft kiss to the top of her head. She let out a sigh, staring at him through the mirror. The scar that stretched from under her nose to an inch under her bottom lip bothered her. It had yet to fade and Denise had told her that it was most likely permanent.
"Rick may have mentioned that you're going out today. Can I come?" Over the past month, Rick and Daryl had been a little more forgiving of Parker's comings and goings. Of course, neither of them was thrilled when she went out with Glenn one time and came back covered in walker blood, but they couldn't argue when Glenn came to her defense and told them he'd be dead if it weren't for Parker.
"I don't know, ask Rick," Daryl muttered, walking over to the nightstand to grab his stuff. "I don't think you should come. Ain't a good idea." She threw on a shirt, sending him a fake glare.
"Okay, then it's a no from you," Parker groaned dramatically as she passed him, leaving their room and stepping into the hallway. "Rick?!" She called out, not knowing exactly where he was in the house.
"Parker?!" Rick's voice followed, his tone full of sarcasm.
"Ah, come on," Parker joked as his face appeared at the bottom of the stairs. "Can I come with you guys today?
"What did Daryl say?" Rick asked before giving her the most disappointed older brother look possible. "And why aren't you dressed?"
"Calm down, this shirt is like a nightgown. You can only see my legs." She rolled her eyes. "And... he didn't technically say... 'no'...?" He cocked an eyebrow at her. "The word no never left his mouth."
"I said it ain't a good idea!" Daryl answered for her. She shot him a look over her shoulder.
"If Daryl said no, why are you asking me?" Rick asked her.
"Because he's not your boss," Parker sighed, leaning on the railings. Rick looked worried, his eyebrows pinched together.
"I feel like this is a trap of some kind."
"Please, Rick," Parker begged, "I need to go out. I promise to be careful. I'll be with you and Daryl the entire time." Rick sighed, giving in.
"Fine, but you have to listen to us."
"Great," Parker said excitedly. "Thank you, Rick. Love you!" Rick shook his head laughing as he walked away. Parker returned to her and Daryl's room, smiling at him. "Rick said yes." Daryl scoffed, not even remotely surprised.
