"Open the gates!" Rick's voice seemed distant, but that also meant he was close. And from what she could tell he was alone. "Open the gates now!" Parker ran towards the front gate, seeing Michonne rushing in from the side as she pulled the mesh covering back. In front of her was Rick being chased by a least half of the herd and some were trying to cut him off, coming out of the woods. Parker grabbed the metal gate, waiting until he was a good enough distance away before using all her body weight to pull it open for him. A walker cut Rick off and he bodied it to the ground, causing him to fall with it.
"Rick!" Parker shouted as he struggled to get back to his feet. He shuffled away from the walker that clawed at his boots and pushed himself back up, running through the gate, Michonne pulled it shut behind him. Rick turned around out of breath as they stared at the walkers reaching through the metal bars, trying to claw at them. Parker dragged the gate cover across, making them just noisy shadows. She walked over to Rick, a laugh of disbelief escaping her as she wrapped her arms around him. He hugged her back, looking over her shoulder at Michonne. When they pulled away, Rick noticed her wearing a sweater covered in blood, which matched the blood that covered the lower portion of her face and the sleeve of her left arm.
"What happened?" Rick asked, looking around at the town and the bodies that littered the ground. The majority of which being their own people.
"We were attacked," Parker explained to him, guilt overwhelmed her as she looked around. If she had left the house right when this started, maybe she could have saved more people. "Those people with the 'W's' on their foreheads climbed over the walls and then they just started killing people." She knew he was about to comment on her being out there but she felt like she had made the right choice. "I couldn't just stand by and watch, Rick. I couldn't."
"Did you go out while all this was happening?" He pointed towards the dead bodies.
"No," She shook her head, glad he ignored what she had said.
"You forget that you look at your feet when you lie," Rick had a tired smile on his face, probably from running a good ten miles. Maybe more. "Not to mention, you're covered in blood."
"Yell at me later," Parker shrugged off his concern. "Where's Daryl?"
"I don't know," Rick answered her and she stared at him blankly for a moment as his words registered.
"What do you mean 'You don't know'? How can you not- where... where is he?" She stuttered over her words as she tried to keep herself calm. "I know that this wasn't expected but you... you've been planning this damn thing for two weeks!"
"I'm sure he's okay, P," Rick tried to comfort her.
"Yeah, and the herd of walkers you brought back with you is proof, right?" Parker snapped at him, she covered her mouth with her hand, looking at him apologetically. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to say that." He placed a hand on her shoulder, squeezing it lightly. She muffled a cry of pain as she shrugged his hand off. The group of survivors that survived the attack were gathered by the wall, listening to the walkers outside, growling, and clamoring to get in. Rick walked towards the center of the people of Alexandria with Parker trailing behind him.
"You can hear it," Rick began, taking in the horrified looks of the people. "Some of you saw it. They got back here, half of them. Still enough to surround us twenty deep. Look, I know you're scared. You haven't seen anything like this. You haven't been through anything like this. But we're safe for now."
"The panel the truck hit, still seems pretty stable," Parker commented, a few of the group seemed to relax just a bit at that. "We reinforced it just to be sure it will hold."
"Either way, the wall's gonna hold together," Rick continued. "Can you? The others... they're gonna be back."
"They are gonna be back," Rosita backed him up, she had a lot of trust in many of the people who were still out there. Mainly Abraham.
