POV: Nelson
As I sat on the couch, staring blankly at the TV, I couldn't help but think about Y/n. It had been a week since we broke up, and the pain was still raw. But as I looked around at my family, I knew they were all trying to be there for me.
My mom, Cassie, came over and sat down beside me, putting a gentle hand on my shoulder. "Hey, buddy, are you okay?" she asked softly.
I nodded, feeling a lump form in my throat. "Yeah, Mom," I whispered.
Dad, Spencer, came over too, putting his arm around me. "We're all here for you, Nelson. You're not alone."
I nodded again, feeling a small sense of comfort.
Just then, Noah and Niles burst into the room, laughing and joking around. "Hey, bro! We're back from our gaming session!" Noah exclaimed.
I forced a smile onto my face as they plopped down beside us on the couch. "Hey guys," I said weakly.
The three of them started chatting and joking around, trying to lift my spirits. It was cheesy, but it worked. For the first time in days, I felt a glimmer of hope.
POV: Y/n
I lay in bed that night, thinking about Nelson. It had been a week since we broke up too, and I was still reeling from the loss. But as I thought about him and his family, something occurred to me - they were all still there for him.
I realized that just because our relationship had ended didn't mean we had to lose each other completely. Maybe we could still be friends. Maybe we could support each other through this tough time.
I rolled over and grabbed my phone, sending a text to Nelson's number. "Hey," it read. "Can we talk?"
POV: Nelson
I stared at my phone in shock as I read Y/n's text. Was she really reaching out to me after everything? I hesitated for a moment before typing out a response. "Yeah," it read. "Let's talk."
We set up a time to meet the next day, and I felt a mix of emotions swirling inside me - excitement, nervousness, and hope.
The next day, we met up at our favorite coffee shop and talked for hours about everything and nothing. We laughed and cried together, sharing our feelings and our fears.
As we parted ways that afternoon, I felt a weight lift off my shoulders. Maybe this was the start of something new - not a new romance, but a new chapter in our lives as friends.
POV: Spencer
As we sat down to dinner that night as a family, Nelson looked up at us with a small smile on his face. "You know what?" he said suddenly.
"What?" Cassie asked curiously.
"I think I'm going to be okay," he said quietly. "I think I'm going to make it through this."
We all smiled at him, relieved and proud of our little brother for facing his emotions head-on.
As we finished dinner and settled in for the night, I leaned over to Cassie and whispered something in her ear - "You know what would be great right now?"
"What?" she asked back.
"A family movie night," I said with a grin.
She laughed and nodded. "Sounds like just what we need."
And so we spent the rest of the night laughing and snuggled up together as a family - Nelson included - grateful for the love and support that bound us together.
In the end, even though our relationships had changed, our bond as a family remained unbroken - stronger than ever.
