Y/n Pov

It was a typical Friday evening for y/n. She was lying in bed, binge watching her favorite show (whatever you want it to be) on Netflix, when her phone buzzed with an incoming text. She reached over to grab it, and her eyes scanned the screen to see who it was. Ah, it was Nelson, her boyfriend of three and a half years.

"Hey, what's up?" she read the text. Her heart skipped a beat as she saw that he was asking her something important.

"Hey! What's going on?" she replied, her fingers flying across the keyboard.

"I was wondering if you're free to come with us on a road trip for five days," Nelson's response came back. "My family is going on a big adventure, and I really want you to come."

y/n's eyes widened as she read the text again. A road trip? With Nelson's family? That sounded like so much fun! She quickly typed out a response:

"Let me ask my parents, okay? I'll get back to you."

She set the phone down and hopped out of bed, padding softly to the living room where her parents were watching TV with her sisters, Arionna and Harley. The two younger sisters looked up at her with hopeful eyes.

"Hey, what's up?" Cassie, her mom, asked.

"I just got a text from Nelson," y/n said, trying to sound casual. "He asked me to go on a road trip with his family for five days."

Arionna and Harley immediately perked up. "Ooh, can we come too?" they chimed in unison.

y/n's eyes darted between them. She knew they were obsessed with one of Nelson's brothers, Niles, but they weren't invited on this trip. It wasn't fair to ask Nelson to invite them without permission from his parents.

"Mom?" she turned to her mom Juliet. "Can we talk about this?"

Mike, her dad, looked up from his phone. "What's going on?"

"It's about Nelson's family road trip," y/n explained. "He asked me to come with them for five days, but my sisters want to come too."

Juliet frowned. "Honey, Nelson didn't invite your sisters. It's not fair to ask him to bring them along without permission."

y/n nodded glumly. She knew her mom was right.

After some persuasion from her parents, y/n reluctantly agreed to go on the road trip alone with Nelson. But she couldn't bear the thought of leaving her sisters behind.

That night, y/n packed her bag in her room while her family slept. She had told her parents that they were getting her at 3 am.

The next morning, she crept downstairs and out the door, carrying a small backpack with all her essentials. She took a deep breath and walked towards the Neuman's van parked outside.

Nelson was already waiting for her by the driver's side door. He smiled when he saw her and pulled her into a warm hug.

"Hey ma," he whispered into her ear. "I'm so glad your parents let you come."

y/n smiled back at him as they climbed into the van together. The rest of the Neuman family was already inside: Noah, Nelson's older brother; their parents, Cassie and Spencer; and little brother Niles, who was fast asleep in the first row.

As they hit the road, y/n snuggled up close to Nelson in the 2nd row. He wrapped his arm around her shoulders and began scrolling through TikTok on his phone.

y/n watched him scroll through videos of people doing crazy stunts and lip-syncing to popular songs. She giggled at some of them and nudged him playfully.

As the miles flew by outside the window, y/n felt herself getting drowsy. The motion of the van combined with the hum of the engine lulling her into a relaxed state.

Nelson noticed she was falling asleep and whispered sweet nothings in her ear. "You're so beautiful," he breathed. "I'm so glad you're here with me."

y/n smiled sleepily and snuggled closer to him. As they drove deeper into the night, she felt like she was exactly where she belonged – beside Nelson on this wild adventure.
