Noah's Pov

I woke up to the sound of my alarm blaring in my ear. I groggily reached over to turn it off and sat up in bed. It was going to be a typical Wednesday, I thought. I got out of bed and started getting ready for school.

As I was brushing my teeth, my mind started to wander to the upcoming school dance that night. I was really looking forward to it, especially since my best friend, y/n, had finally agreed to go with me.

When I got downstairs, my mom, Cassie, was already making breakfast in the kitchen. She greeted me with a big smile and said, "Good morning, sweetie! How's it going?"

I shrugged and replied, "It's going. Just getting ready for school."

She asked me if I had a big day ahead of me and I told her about the dance that night. She reminded me to wear my favorite tie and make sure to bring my phone charger.

As we were eating breakfast, my dad, Spencer, came downstairs and said good morning to us both. He asked me about school, and I told him about a test I had coming up in math.

Before leaving I said goodbye to my brothers Nelson and Niles. They had been homeschooled since they are young and famous.

After saying bye, I grabbed my backpack and headed out the door to catch the bus. When I got to school, y/n was already waiting for me by our lockers.

"Hey, Noah! Happy birthday!" she exclaimed.

I looked at her confused and said, "My birthday? What's today?"

Emily laughed and said, "Duh! You're 17 today! We've been planning this whole day for you!"

I couldn't believe it. My birthday had slipped my mind entirely.

"Wait, what about the party?" I asked.

y/n explained that she had invited all of our friends over last night after we got home from studying for our math test. She said that they were going to have cake, ice cream, and games.

I felt like an idiot for forgetting my own birthday. I couldn't believe that none of my family members had mentioned it either.

When we got to class, I couldn't help but feel embarrassed. All of my friends kept congratulating me on my birthday and asking me how old I was turning.

At lunchtime, y/n convinced me to take a break from class and go get some food with her. We sat down at a table by the window, and she pulled out a small gift bag from behind her back.

"Happy birthday again!" she said, handing me the bag.

Inside, there was a new basketball with pictures of us and a gift card to my favorite clothing store.

I felt so grateful for y/n's thoughtfulness. She truly was the best friend a guy could ask for.

After lunch, we headed back to class. When we got to our next period, I saw that my best friend jake, was sitting at his desk looking very excited.

"Hey Noah! Happy birthday!" he exclaimed as we walked in.

I smiled at him and said thanks. Jake is always so enthusiastic about everything.

When class ended, we headed back to our lockers to grab our things for our next class. That's when I saw my parents waiting for me outside the classroom door.

They both looked very surprised when they saw me standing there with them. "Noah! Happy birthday!" they exclaimed together.

I felt like an idiot again for forgetting my own birthday. My mom handed me a small, wrapped present and told me that they had planned a surprise party for later that night after the dance.

As we walked home from school, y/n reminded me again about the party and asked if I wanted her to come over early to help set up. I agreed and thanked her again for everything she had done for me that day.

That evening after dinner, y/n came over to help set up the party decorations and food. We chatted while we worked and laughed together as we remembered all the good times we had shared since freshman year.

As everyone started arriving at 8 pm, y/n took charge of playing music and making sure everyone had enough snacks and drinks. My mom made sure everything ran smoothly while my dad took pictures of everyone having fun.

As we played games and danced together, I couldn't help but feel grateful for such amazing friends and family who made this day so special despite it being forgotten in the first place.

And as I blew out the candles on my birthday cake at midnight, I knew that this was definitely to remember

I knew it was a night to remember.
