Y/n Pov-

I don't know when exactly Noah Neumann became the one person I couldn't stand... and couldn't stop thinking about.

Maybe it was when he embarrassed me in front of the whole school with that dumb "who let Y/N cook?" joke when I tried to present in class. Maybe it was how he always called me "goody-two-shoes" with that annoying smirk like he knew how much it annoyed me. Or maybe it was just the fact that he was loud, overconfident, and had a jawline that didn't need to go that hard.

Either way, I wasn't supposed to like him.

So why did I just send a whole voice memo about how I kind of, maybe, definitely would let him kiss me?

I had been ranting to Jania—ranting—venting about how frustrating he was. I had pressed record on a voice memo like I always do when I need to get it off my chest, pacing my room in pajama shorts and a hoodie with my hair in a half-up bun.

"Ugh, why is Noah like... actually cute sometimes? Like not all the time, but when he's not talking, he's kinda fine. I hate that I notice. Like, he literally gets on my nerves 24/7, and I would still maybe... kiss him? I wouldn't like it—but like... maybe a little."

Yeah.

I sent that.

The problem wasn't the content. The problem was that I didn't send it to Jania.

I sent it to Noah.

The second I saw his name in the "Sent to" bar, my heart nearly left my body.

I threw my phone across the bed and stared at the ceiling like it held the answers to my humiliation. I considered deleting my socials. Faking an illness. Maybe moving out of the country.

Then my phone lit up.

A text. From him.

Noah: "So... I talk too much but you still wanna kiss me?"

Kill me.

Noah's Pov-

The moment I heard the voice memo, I dropped my controller.

I had just come in from practice, hoodie still damp around the collar. I was scrolling through my phone when I saw the notification. A voice message from Y/N? Weird. We weren't even talking like that. We mostly just... argued. Traded jabs in class. Gave each other dirty looks across the hallway.

But curiosity got the best of me.

I played it.

I blinked.

Then played it again.

She said she wanted to kiss me.

Me.

The same girl who roasted me in front of the group chat for being "loud and overrated" just confessed—accidentally—that she had a crush on me?

Romelo saw the look on my face and paused the game. "Bro? You good?"

I stood up, phone still in my hand. "Y/N just... I think she just admitted she likes me."

He raised a brow. "No way. Show me."

"I can't. That'd be foul." But the smirk on my face said everything.

I didn't know what to text her at first. I wanted to tease her, but not too hard. I wanted to let her know I heard it... but not scare her off.

So, I went with:

"So... I talk too much but you still wanna kiss me?"

It was smooth enough.

But I was freaking out inside.

Y/n Pov-

I stared at the screen, my fingers hovering over the keyboard. My ears were hot. My stomach flipped.

He heard it.

And now he was being flirty?

I wanted to dig a hole and hide. But instead, I replied:

"That wasn't meant for you. Don't let it get to your big head."

He responded instantly:

"Too late. My ego is already in orbit."

I laughed. Out loud. Which was annoying because I was supposed to hate him.

And now? Now I couldn't stop smiling at my phone.

Nelson Pov-

I walked past Noah's room and heard him actually laughing.

Not fake ha-ha. Not "I'm on the phone with the guys" kind of joking around.

Real laughing. Grinning. Blushing.

I stopped in the hallway and peeked in. "Bro... what is wrong with you?"

He turned his phone over like I didn't already know what was up. "Nothing. Mind your business."

Romelo whispered behind me. "He got a voice memo from Y/N. She accidentally confessed she's into him."

I burst out laughing. "No way. Y/N? She grills him like she wants to punch him."

"Exactly," Romelo said. "Turns out, she might wanna kiss him."

I shook my head, still laughing. "Yeah, he's down bad. Look at him."

Noah threw a pillow at me.

Definitely in love.

Mama Neumann Pov-

It didn't take a genius to notice something had shifted in my oldest son.

Noah was quieter today, but not in a bad way. He kept checking his phone, hiding smiles, humming while he poured juice.

I'd seen that look before—in Spencer, when we were teenagers.

I nudged him as he leaned on the kitchen counter. "It's Y/N, isn't it?"

He blinked. "Huh? What?"

"Don't play dumb. You like her."

He groaned. "How does everyone know everything around here?"

"Baby, I'm your mother. I always know."

He just grinned.

And I knew.

This was real.

Y/n Pov-

Later that week, I showed up to Noah's game. Nervous energy buzzed under my skin. I hadn't seen him in person since the voice memo.

As I made my way to the bleachers, I spotted his mom. "Y/N! You came!" Cassie hugged me, pulling me in like I was already family.

"Wouldn't miss it," I said, scanning the court.

Then Noah jogged over during warmups, a little sweaty, curls bouncing.

He stopped in front of me, grinning.

"Hey," he said. "You look... nice."

I smiled. "You too. Sweaty and all."

He laughed, leaned in—and right in front of his whole team—he kissed me.

Not loud. Not dramatic. Just sweet.

Suddenly, it didn't feel so accidental.

It felt like something real.
